There’s so much (ignored) solar power in the warmer months that they’re finally tapping into it, commercially speaking

In essence, this ad claims to refund half your energy use from now until September (in France, that’s when the cold season starts)

(This is the most I’m expecting grid batteries to be worth, to be honest)

Apparently, such a system would cost well over the current cost of the property, weigh several dozen tons, take up even more space than I thought, AND make as much noise as legally allowed (that’s <65 dB per module, of which there would be a few dozens)

I’m annoyed that this isn’t usually part of the discussion and I’m even more convinced that grid scale batteries are not viable as a commercial service

… which kind of validates my thinking that “virtual battery” services aren’t batteries in any technical capacity

What gives? Where am I wrong?

Finally got the nelinor.com #GridBattery to talk with my #Fronius Smart Meter. Charge full when power is cheap, load follow when it's not. 7 kWh/1.8 kW is an ideal size.

Tomorrow is exactly the kind of day for which I bought the #GridBattery.

I think I'll set my #Nelinor #GridBattery to charge at full power (2.1 kW) during the four cheapest hours of the day and discharge according to the net consumption whenever the gross price is >15 c/kWh.

The Fronius integration of #Nelinor #GridBattery is going ahead. Just mirrored my Solar API so that the guys in Otaniemi can do some remote field testing.

Spent 20 hours setting up a local DNS server for the #nelinor #GridBattery project. Giving a device a hostname in addition to a static IP shouldn't be this hard.
