@lowqualityfacts "Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life."

One of the things I like about the fediverse is that there really does seem to be a higher proportion of Pratchett readers than in the general population

@Halcyonline I had compiled all of the sayings of Mrs. Cosmopolite years ago, and lost it. I'm still looking for it though, because isn't it written "it's always in the last place you look"?

@imalcolm I love this book. It always felt to me like the point in time where STP started to discover what Discworld was. When he stopped trying to write parody, and instead told us what he learned about what happened there.
The leap in quality from the first two books to this one is startling.
Edit: OK, I could just as easily said this about Mort. Oh well; you probably know what I mean.
I can only read the books in order, since I enjoy discovering everything just as Pterry did.

@skribe I'm going to cheat a couple of years. Terry Pratchett's Hogfather. I've even given a sermon based on Death's conversation with Susan at the climax.

"Commander Vimes didn't like the phrase 'The innocent have nothing to fear', believing the innocent had everything to fear, mostly from the guilty but in the longer term even more from those who say things like 'The innocent have nothing to fear'.”

Today was Terry Pratchett's birthday.
GNU Terry Pratchett, the world is a worse place for your not being in it. Thank you for your stories, they helped me to be better.

How has it been 8 years?
It's just criminal that Death didn't return #TerryPratchett
I'm also struck by how much I miss someone I never got the chance to meet.I wish I'd had the chance to say thank you.
Thank you that his work taught me to think, and gave me a place to go. It changed me as a person and taught me things that with my upbringing I would never have found otherwise.I'm a better human because of the Discworld and I will be forever grateful.
