Today marks the beginning of World Alzheimer's Month. Sir Terry Pratchett was a patron of Alzheimer's Research UK and had a form of Alzheimer's himself.
At this year's #DiscworldConvention, we raised over £30,000 for three charities -- including Alzheimer's Society!

Each year, on August bank holiday weekend, people gather to carry out an age-old task. With buckets of chalk, protective gloves, and hammers, they scour the hillside to keep this majestic horse showing its glory for future generations.

Just 24 hours after our last post, everyone at the Convention is extremely saddened by the loss of Tim Curry. Tim played Trymon in the 2008 Sky One TV adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic.
In a nod to one of Tim's most famous roles, in 2010 the #DiscworldConvention staged the (never to be forgotten) Rocky Horror Discworld Show!
Tim and his magnificent voice will be very much missed.

Everyone at the Convention is deeply sorry to hear of the death of the wonderful Dolly Parton.
Not only one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time, Dolly gave away over 332 million books to children around the world through her Imagination Library.
We will always love you, Dolly!

Today's Guest Spotlight is Professor David Lloyd! A long-time friend of Sir #TerryPratchett, David co-wrote the introduction and annotations to the Penguin Modern Classic edition of Night Watch along with Dr. Darryl Jones.
Sadly, David is unable to attend this year's #DiscworldConvention due to living in Fourecks, but will deliver a virtual session nonetheless.

Our first 2026 Charity Spotlight is... Alzheimer's Society. This is a deeply personal charity for all of us, as our beloved Sir #TerryPratchett was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's in 2007. AS funds research, campaigning, and support for those living with 'the Embuggerance'.
