having one of those 'told ya so' moments when robots.txt was even suggested as 'the' method to block #AI …

Since nobody answered all the questions I had I read up a bit on #GlazeProject and #Nightshade. So here’s a summary of what I would have liked people to explain / mention rather than just saying “use glaze to protect your art from AI’.
Both are developed by a group from the University of Chicago. They have published a paper about Glaze where they explain at depth how it was developed, and how they worked with artists to verify its efficiency:

The people behind the two projects are working to make a tool that contains both and do it in one go instead of individually, as well as reduce the amount of visible noise/artifacts that protecting the images creates

Artists! are you tired of Generative AI models training on your art despite Being clear that your stuff shouldn't be trained on?
Poison your art.

I've been following the development of a neat little tool called NightShade Which supposedly alters the image in imperceptible ways that impact how generative models learn from your art, effectively "poisoning" their training information. There is a second tool called glaze by the same developers that made nighshade.
in short, Nighshade distorts what the AI learns about a certain pictures, and glaze provides protection from style mimicry, a quite awful practice i've already come across often where some insensitive individual trains an AI on a specific artist.
Using both of these tools we can push back against companies and individuals that scrape our art without our consent.

Huh. I hadn't heard of Glaze before.Apparently Glaze is a project/software that a visual artist can use to subtly poison their artwork against harvesting in AI data sets.
It seems the image is "cloaked" in a manner which is not obvious to the human eye, but makes the image less comprehensible to an AI.
