The #Cultiva project at #GilVicente School has come to an end in the saddest way we could have imagined, undoing two years of community work — but it’s only a ‘see you later’ for now. 🌱

We will continue the project at #EscolaCamões, in #Arroios, taking with us everything we have built, learnt and shared in #Graça.

We thank everyone who valued our work and everyone who supported us over the last few months, which were difficult and marked by a persistent struggle to preserve this project.

O #Cultiva na Escola #GilVicente chegou ao fim da forma mais triste que poderíamos imaginar, destruindo o trabalho comunitário de dois anos — mas é apenas um até já. 🌱

Continuaremos o projeto na #EscolaCamões, em #Arroios, levando connosco tudo o que construímos, aprendemos e partilhámos na #Graça.

Agradecemos a todos os que valorizaram o nosso trabalho e a todos os que nos apoiaram nos últimos meses, que foram difíceis e marcados por uma luta persistente para preservar este projeto.

Uma oportunidade para conhecer de perto as práticas agroecológicas que desenvolvemos, descobrir a diversidade que habita este espaço e perceber o impacto que uma horta comunitária pode ter no coração da cidade.

On May 23, an activity was held to explore and learn about native, exotic, and invasive plants found on the grounds of #GilVicente School, with support from the #Quercus Association. We gained a better understanding of the impact of the castor bean and Gleditsia triacanthos on the ecosystem.

This initiative raised awareness for the importance of recognizing and controlling invasive species. It reinforced the community’s active role in the sustainable management of its green spaces.

No dia 23 de maio, realizou-se uma atividade dedicada à descoberta e compreensão das plantas autóctones, exóticas e invasoras presentes no espaço da escola #GilVicente, com o apoio da Associação #Quercus. Compreendemos melhor o impacto do rícino-bronzeado e da Gleditsia triacanthos no ecosistema.

Esta ação sensibilizou para a importância de reconhecer e controlar espécies invasoras. Reforçou-se o papel ativo da comunidade na gestão sustentável dos seus espaços vegetalizados.

Last weekend, #Cultiva was one of the featured spaces at #OpenHouseLisboa.

In an urban landscape where green spaces give way to concrete, the garden is more than just a community space: it is a bioclimatic refuge, provides permeable soil, and helps mitigate heat—and, above all, it is a space for producing locally sourced food.

City and agriculture go hand in hand, showing that urban gardens can be small infrastructures of care, connection, and a shared future.

No último fim de semana, a #Cultiva, foi um dos espaços em destaque no #OpenHouseLisboa.

Num território urbano onde o verde cede ao betão, a horta vai além de um espaço comunitário: é refúgio bioclimático, solo permeável e mitigação do calor — e, acima de tudo, um espaço de produção de alimentos de proximidade.

Cidade e agricultura caminham lado a lado, mostrando que as hortas urbanas podem ser pequenas infraestruturas de cuidado, encontro e futuro coletivo.
