The #Cultiva project at #GilVicente School has come to an end in the saddest way we could have imagined, undoing two years of community work — but it’s only a ‘see you later’ for now. 🌱
We will continue the project at #EscolaCamões, in #Arroios, taking with us everything we have built, learnt and shared in #Graça.
We thank everyone who valued our work and everyone who supported us over the last few months, which were difficult and marked by a persistent struggle to preserve this project.

Urban farming is about much more than just producing food. It is about cultivating the future.
Today, we are increasingly disconnected from the origins of what we eat. Food travels thousands of kilometres, producers earn less, and the link between producer and consumer is lost.
At #Cultiva, we produce using a different model: on small plots and through #agroecology practices that regenerate the soil. Producing locally means creating more value, greater proximity and greater responsibility.
A agricultura urbana é muito mais do que produzir alimentos. É cultivar o futuro.
Hoje estamos cada vez mais distantes da origem do que comemos. Os alimentos percorrem milhares de quilómetros, os produtores recebem menos e a ligação entre produtor e consomente vai-se perdendo.

🐝 Amid flowers and food, the #Cultiva garden turns into a refuge for the life that inhabits the city.
This calm visitor is a #Bombus terrestris (large earth #bumblebee). With its sturdy, furry body, it carries pollen between flowers and helps sustain life and abundance in the city. Despite their imposing look and loud flight, they are peaceful and contribute to the balance of ecosystems.
Small encounters like this remind us that, when we care for #nature, it also cares for us.

Esta visitante tranquila é um #Bombus terrestris (#abelhão). De corpo robusto e peludo transporta pólen entre flores e contribui para sustentar a vida e a abundância na cidade. Apesar do aspeto imponente e do voo sonoro, são pacíficos e participam ao equilíbrio dos ecossistemas.

At the #CozinhaPopular da #Mouraria, about 25 people gathered for a vegetarian community lunch that brought the garden directly to the table. The vegetables, harvested that very day, embodied the value of time and care.
More than just a meal, it was a moment of sharing that reinforced the importance of a closer relationship with what we consume, strengthening the community and promoting a more sustainable future.

Na #CozinhaPopular da #Mouraria, cerca de 25 pessoas reuniram-se para um almoço comunitário vegetariano que ligou diretamente a horta ao prato. As hortaliças colhidas no dia, trouxeram consigo o valor do tempo e do cuidado.
Mais do que uma refeição foi um momento de partilha que reforçou a importância de uma relação mais próxima com aquilo que consumimos, fortalecendo a comunidade e promovendo um futuro mais sustentável.

The visit by this group from the #SantaMariaMaior's Senior University to our #cultiva garden was more than just an outing — it was a reconnection with the land, flavours and memories of days gone by.
In the vegetable beds, less common crops appeared, sparking curiosity, conversation and sharing.
Throughout the visit, stories, knowledge and familiar gestures multiplied. The garden became a space for meeting and sharing, where food took centre stage.

A visita deste grupo, da Universidade Sénior da Junta de Freguesia de #SantaMariaMaior à nossa horta #cultiva foi mais do que um passeio — foi um reencontro com a terra, os sabores e memórias antigas.
Entre os canteiros, surgiram alimentos menos comuns, despertando curiosidade, conversa e partilha.
Ao longo da visita, multiplicaram-se histórias, saberes e gestos familiares. A horta tornou-se um espaço de encontro e partilha, onde o alimento esteve no centro.
