  1. Now that #GetMoarFediverse and #FakeRelay are shutting down, does anyone know of alternative services with similar functionality? I’ve also been using #FediBuzz for a long time, but I’m unsure how effective it is. #mastoadmin

  2. @cmyrland @gauteweb @forteller Jeg ser det finnes allerede et verktøy, #GetMoarFediverse, som gjør dette, dvs. hente poster med hashtags fra andre instanser github.com/g3rv4/GetMoarFedive

  4. @mike IMO relays are a very two-edged sword. I've disabled all my 'normal' relays, and rely almost entirely on #FakeRelay / #GetMoarFediverse now: This is like a relay, but only pulls in post that are tagged with hashtags I follow.

This will work best for single user instances, but on a multi-user instance, you could just hard-code a list of hashtags.

See my post here for more info, if you are interested: blog.thms.uk/2023/01/setting-u

If you're an instance admin, consider #GetMoarFediverse by @g3rv4. It's a nifty tool that lets you pull #hashtags from servers you specify even if you don't have much interactions with it.

    github.com/g3rv4/GetMoarFedive

Another tool is called Fedi Buzz Relay: relay.fedi.buzz/

If you're using #Akkoma or #Firefish, they have the bubble/recommended timeline where the #instance admin can import timelines from select instances & show it to their users.

    Hope this helps!

Consider using the Antennas feature. It lets you customize what to follow, including hashtags. You can have an antenna feed of multiple hashtags.

One thing of note is that antennas create their own feed & doesn't pollute your Home feed. Some may like this, some may not. I find it very useful in deck view.

Another way to import content is to look at the
#GetMoarFediverse tool by @[email protected], a very cool tool for any single user instances to import hashtags from other instances you would like to follow. Check it out here: https://github.com/g3rv4/GetMoarFediverse. I've used this tool on Akkoma before and I think should also work with Firefish.

    Hope this helps!

  10. @lucas check out #GetMoarFediverse - arguably even better, as it can read all hashtags followed by people on your instance from the database.

  12. @vyr the occurrence of sketchy instances doesn’t bother me as much - imho it should be the subscribing instances’ job to block what they want to block.

But deffo feeling sketchy now. Shame, as it was so useful.

I’ll be relying more on #GetMoarFediverse going forwards

  14. Something’s wrong. I’ve been getting consistent notifications from my system that the scheduled job for #GetMoarFediverse was skipped due to the job still running. Could it be that I followed too many people in the last day? (Less than 5 new people I think). Or the #MastoHost issue with #ovh? 🤔 (and even publishing this post is sloooowww) #mastoAdmin #singleuserinstance

  16. @aaron I have a simple single user instance with #MastoHost. Am happy so far. I underestimated initially, so went with the smallest plan. I had to upgrade to the next plan (USD 9 a month I think?) as i was doing probably too much with #Fedifetcher and #GetMoarFediverse . But since then things are fine based on my (current) usage. I wrote a blog post here cdrum.com/2023/06/10/experimen

  20. @yeri I found this blog post that I’m exploring. Two options - #fedibuzz and #FakeRelay / #GetMoarFediverse - along with #fedifetcher.. Will report back!

  22. @jan On mountains.social I use #FakeRelay (github.com/g3rv4/FakeRelay) and #GetMoarFediverse (github.com/g3rv4/GetMoarFedive) from @g3rv4. You can specify which hashtags and from which instances you want to inject into your federated timeline. That really works out. My current config can be see here: github.com/spiezmaestro/mounta

  24. Hm. #GetMoarFediverse has been consistently throwing errors for me this morning.

Full log here: github.com/nanos/GMFActionDemo (I think this is public, isn't it?)

@g3rv4, do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

  26. Finally got around to configuring #FakeRelay and #GetMoarFediverse on this instance, the way I had it on my previous instance. Now I automatically get content with hashtags that interest me in my feed again. It is such a lifesaver for small #selfhosted servers. #mastoadmin

Thanks to @g3rv4 and his excellent work on #FakeRelay (github.com/g3rv4/FakeRelay) and #GetMoarFediverse (github.com/g3rv4/GetMoarFedive) there is now a way to more specifically pull relevant posts into the federated timeline. The instance admin can define which hashtags from which instances are pulled, thus providing content more relevant to the people on the instance.

  30. @coffe from my experience, my usage is around 20gb. Using #fakerelay and #getmoarfediverse to get content in. Seems to do a clean out every so often, hasn't gone above about 25gb...
