GoToSocial update: the timeline issue is really not that bad.

I've migrated my follow list over, been adding some fedisocial accounts and other aggregators, & have subscribed to some tags via the #FediBuzz relay server & my timeline is actually pretty lively.

And #Phanpy has a nice feature that lets you see a post's original instance page (and thus all replies) without opening a new tab or window.

Plan to do more intentional following to keep things fresh but this is already feeling good.

Irgendwie erschließt sich mir das in :mastodon: #Mastodon mit den #Sammlungen noch nicht. Ich dachte, die wären dafür da, um die Inhalte des eigenen Servers zu erweitern, weil man Profile vorgeschlagen kriegt, die man dann abonnieren kann. Derzeit nutze ich #Fedibuzz als Relais, aber das spült mir den Server, so dermaßen voll mit Dingen, die ich eigentlich gar nicht sehen will, dass es speicherplatzmäßig an der Grenze ist. In Kombination mit dem immensen Speicherhunger von Mastodon selber beim Update Prozess ist dann meine Toleranzschwelle erreicht.

It's quite nice having a home and federated timeline on a #selfhosted Mastodon instance. If I want to discover new content I'll browse the federated timeline and not home as that'll be included. If I just want to see people I follow and not spend too much time I'll just browse home instead.

#fedibuzz helps as only tags of content I want to see are on the federated timeline. It takes a while to filter bots and media accounts, mainly to save space, but is super comfy once you get it right.

Kalau restart container langsung lancar, berarti masalah bukan karena #cloudflare nge-throttle atau nge-limit.

Relay push maupun subscription kita coba matikan dulu deh (walau sebenarnya relay tersebut tidak ramai). Sambil kita pantau beberapa hari kedepan kejadian lagi tidak jika tanpa relay.

Kita andalkan dulu cara sebelumnya, lewat #FediBuzz saja. Toh pakai FediBuzz jauh lebih bersih konteks nya lebih nyambung sama yang mau dibaca di timeline, tidak nyampah.

Kemarin coba fitur baru buat relay di #gotosocial ya memang mau test aja. Sekalian mau cek efek ke pemakaian storage jadi seberapa besar.

It works well but the data amount can be quite heavy sometimes. There is #FediBuzz relay that allows you to filter what they send you, maybe there's a relay that only sends you the top X tags by count?

Jajal #gotosocial 0.22.0-rc3. Alhamdulillah upgrade lancar tanpa drama.

Untuk relay subscription gak dulu deh daripada S3 storage bengkak. Cukup andalin relay #fedibuzz buat populate federated timeline di sini.

Untuk relay pushes, bolehlah kita coba beberapa. Biar konten disini lebih gampang ter-discover di dunia #fediverse. Tapi sayangnya untuk push, harus per user, gak bisa global semua user terdaftar.

wondering if I could make a tool that helps find hashtagged content for small servers that would automatically add the tag relay from #FediBuzz relay, follow a few hashtag boost bots with local bot account(so it doesnt clutter you home feed(bots following bots is OK right?)) and maybe adds the hashtag to a list or antenna

Ada anomali yang belum terjawab. #FediBuzz kadang nangkap postingan langsung dari instance ini, kadang lewat instance lain.

Tanda-tandanya kalau dari instance lain, post URL terlihat adalah URL di instance lain (kalau via instance misskey). Yang jelas, seringkali avatar dan media URL seringkali terlihat URL dari instance lain.

Wer etwa dem Account @meermittwoch folgen würde, bekäme alle Tröts mit diesem Hashtag #meermittwoch in die Timeline geboostet, auch die, die die eigene Instanz noch gar nicht kennt.

Es ist also eine gute Hilfe, wenn Interesse an bestimmten Hashtags besteht.

Ein Opt-out ist möglich.

Der Bot tut meines Wrachtens nichts Böses, er ist gerade für Leute auf kleinen Instanzen sinnvoll, die so mehr Tröts zu bestimmten Hashtags angezeigt bekommen.

Zugleich entdeckt eins so eventuell neue Accounts zum Folgen, auf die eins sonst nicht stoßen würde.

Kayaknya kapan-kapan kalo gabut ngoprek bikin statistik dari firehose nya #FediBuzz rame juga. Misal hitung jumlah instance, user, tag, dan postingan per satu periode.

Jangan pake relational DBMS kayaknya biar gak tekor. Sepertinya pakai seperti leveldb cukup, kayaknya ya. Bahkan kebayang bisa in-memory aja, tapi butuh snapshot saja biar ketika restart bisa nerusin statistiknya. Daripada pake relational DBMS, kebayang I/O nya bakal tinggi.

Did the #FediBuzz relay stop working for anyone who upgraded to Mastodon 4.5? If that's the case I need to find a Rust implementation of RFC9421 ASAP: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/spec/security/#http-message-signatures

Seufz, ausgerechnet als #39c3 zum ersten mal trendet, hat das #FediBuzz Relay Schluckauf bekommen.

Now that #GetMoarFediverse and #FakeRelay are shutting down, does anyone know of alternative services with similar functionality? I’ve also been using #FediBuzz for a long time, but I’m unsure how effective it is. #mastoadmin

@aliceif @bjoern @geco_de Du hast recht, genauso habe ich es unter Misskey und Mastodon gemacht. Hashtag per #FediBuzz Relay reingeholt und dann die entsprechenden Hashtags abonniert. Funktioniert generell super, ausser halt bei GTS. 😉
