It was around #illustration 24 (Black Beard - representing the #TaleofGenji character Higekuro) that I decided I really wanted to make a #GenjiMonogatari card deck. I'm so happy I was able to see it through.

I was really impressed with The Game Crafter; the printing looks great and the cards have a protective UV coating and a lovely subtle linen texture. And I find the mint tin size so portable and charming!

~5 years and 55 #illustrations later, I turned all my #GenjiMonogatari illustrations into an #art/card deck! You can make groupings and play various #TaleOfGenji themed #games with it, enjoy the art as-is, or even use it as an inspirational tool by treating the visuals/text on the #cards as creative prompts.

The #GenjiMonogatari series is my #ink and #watercolour project exploring #MurasakiShikibu’s characters and symbols. The idea is that you can make different groupings based on relationships and themes from #TaleOfGenji, and discover even more connections! For example, these are the ladies of the #seasons: Murasaki, Hanachirusato, Akikonomu, Akashi.
