What's the best practice for recording French republican calendar dates? GRAMPS will accept them and sorts them properly, so should I just enter them as in the record, or convert them to Gregorian? Or maybe put the Gregorian date in the event description for easy reference?

This week I found out that FamilySearch has searchable indexes of French BMD records, which makes that part of my extended tree a lot easier than the last time I tried! The transcribed dates are often slightly wrong though, so worth battling through the old French handwriting nonetheless.

As we wrap up #GenHour... I don't know who it was that sent me to stevemorse.org/census/unifi... But thank you, wow... I fell down the rabbit hole again, exploring the residents of my block in 1950. Our home was owned by a custodian. His wife was a housewife. The neighbor was a barber. #1950s

Rushing in late to #GenHour tonight as needed to get my things ready for going to my crafting group tomorrow. Co-ordinating paper colours. I should have sorted earlier in the day but instead was putting more ancestors in my tree! Now writing a blog for #AtoZChallenge month. #OnePlaceStudy

A newspaper article🔗 I found yesterday (link is to clipping at Findmypast) for my Waters Upton #OnePlaceStudy has made me appreciate the usefulness of articles relating to wedding anniversaries! Lots of great info on family members, also past occupations – including “crow-starving”! #GenHour
Wellington Journal, 11 June 19... -
Going to add a #GenHour tag to this too as the hour is about to begin and several one-placers usually take part!
-
Our #OnePlaceStudies blogging and social media prompt for March may just have, erm, prompted me to add a new section to my Waters Upton #OnePlaceStudy website! More to add to it, and hopefully a few blog posts in the pipeline about education, and teachers, in the parish. #GenHour
-
I have written two short blog posts for my #FamilyHistory and scheduling them weekly. Also researching/writing blog posts for the #AtoZChallenge about my #OnePlaceStudy so it is a busy time #GenHour

Preparing data from the 1941 National Farm Survey for addition to my #OnePlaceStudy website, but along the way finding things to check / analyse further! Then I checked the parish's Farm Survey data from 1946 for comparison and saw that 2 farm workers in the parish were Prisoners of War... #GenHour

Excited a new genealolgy chat hour #GenHour is going to be staring on Blue Sky on September 5th at 8pm. Then alternate weeks with the intervening weeks being 1-2pm. It will never replace #AncestryHour on X(Twitter) but is an attempt to pull the genealogy folk together in one place. Find us on Bluesky for #GenHour
