I was already having misgivings about #CPython when I saw a required #Rust dependency coming up (although I know many here have no issues with this), but now that there have been #LLM commits to the project, I'd like to look at alternatives. It seems great that #Pypy exists, although I worry that it will end up replicating undesirable behavior from CPython in the future.

I had been learning C++ with the goal of writing extensions using CPython. As it happens, I already have a physical copy of a book on #Lua and many applications are written in C++ with Lua scripting on top, so I'm going to swap out Python for Lua in an upcoming project. I'm excited to be able to experiment with #LuaLaTeX or writing scripts for #GeanyIDE. The language shows up in way more places than I realized.

I often find that I post on Mastodon either asking for recommendations or recommending software myself. This can be helpful, but these conversations are ephemeral. I also sometimes want to post «I'm having fun using Geany!» or something similar, but that doesn't feel worthy of a post on its own.

There are rumors there will be a new Geany :geany: release in about three weeks. Stay tuned, I'm sure @GeanyIDE will tell us soon that Geany 2.1 is on its way :smile:.

I've really been enjoying using @GeanyIDE but I found it quite annoying that Markdown files didn't offer a pretty-print preview in the IDE. I'm not sure if anyone needs to hear this besides me, but on Debian one needs to separately install the package `geany-plugins` in order to get the Markdown plugin, then activate it in the plugins menu.

A question for the #editor nerds using #HelixEditor #vim #emacs or gui editors as #geanyide. Is it technically possible to set code highlighting to bold, it, font sizes, etc. I am asking because a young family member is probably totally colour blind (as in can only see levels of grey).
