Imagine a militia controlled .fr or .uk.
Unthinkable? For 10 years, that's been the reality in Yemen.
The Houthi militia hijacked the entire .YE domain. They use it to threaten ships with fake .gov.ye emails, surveil Yemenis online, and turn that digital data into kidnappings of activists & NGO workers.
And @ICANN's response? A decade of silence, enabling one of the biggest scandals in internet governance.

In Nepal Gen Z protested corruption and internet restrictions. Nineteen were killed but change followed.
In Yemen we cannot protest. Houthis control telecoms, censor and monitor online activity, kidnap journalists and NGOs workers, and use the national domain .YE as their own tool.
ICANN and IANA have stayed silent since 2015 while a militia owns Yemen’s digital identity. Our only protest is online.

We’ve formally requested #ICANN and #IANA to redelegate Yemen’s .YE domain.
Why? Because it’s hijacked by a militia and abused for:

🚨 Yemen’s national domain .YE is hijacked. Since 2015, Houthis have controlled it via TeleYemen, running every .ye, .com.ye, .net.ye, .gov.ye, .edu.ye site.
The recognized government failed to reclaim it. Civil society must raise its voice.
