I have a kajilion holiday/non-holiday things to do, but I had to revise a short tale I penned a few yrs algo and publish it on Medium in A Dark Wood. (The journal is open for first pubs and repubs.) I may keep going with other revised holiday pieces. I'm hoping at least revisiting some writing after a long hiatus will restore a feeling of humanity to my bones, though my offerings are sometimes dark. #folktale #recasting #fairytale #FrauPerchta #fictionwriting #Christmas

In contemporary alpine festivals she is accompanied by an entourage, the Perchten, either beautiful & bright Schönperchten who bring luck or ugly Schiachperchten with fangs, tusks & horse tails (resembling Krampus) who are supposed to drive out ghosts & demons. She is viewed as the one who rewards generosity & punishes bad behaviour.
