I got my first follower from Threads. The Fediverse integration is moving forward, but it feels like they've given up on Europe since the feature still isn't working here. Honestly, I’m not holding out much hope anymore.

@jjanhone Threads on alusta asti rakentanut täysin Fediverse-yhteensopivaa alustaa, eli kyseessä ei ole "silta", vaan sama kuin esim. että täältä voi seurata Pixelfediä jne. Threads = tili Fediversessä. Tai tällä hetkellä ainakin osittain.

Amerikkalaisia Threads-käyttäjiä (esim. @zuck @barackobama) on voitu seurata jo täältä yli vuoden, mutta toisin päin ei ole pystynyt eli meitä ei ole voinut nähdä Threadsista. Nyt ilmeisesti betaversio kehittynyt eteenpäin. Tähän asti koko toiminto on kuitenkin rajattu USAan maantieteellisesti, tähän tuskin on tullut vielä mitään muutosta... Eli me Suomessa emme pääse kokeilemaan ominaisuutta kumpaankaan suuntaan.

Metan motiiveja Fediverse-tuelle on mietitty pitkään, ei ole vieläkään tiedossa.

Threads keeps building new features and they seem to have completely forgotten about the Fediverse integration. I wonder if Threads folks are ever able to use it in the EU and whether we will be ever fully interact with them both directions.

"So everything has become at least three, if not six, or seven times more difficult than we thought. But we're committed to it, and we're making progress. We have some announcements coming soon. We just gotta get the basics out. You’ve got to be able to not only post to the fediverse, but to get your replies in the app. Ideally, you should be able to follow accounts from the fediverse in Threads, not just follow Threads accounts on Mastodon servers or clients. So there's still plenty of work to do. But I do believe the world is going to become more open over time. And we should lean into that. And if it takes time, it takes time."
