By now a lot of folks are probably aware of the #layoffs at #Microsoft, specifically in Microsoft Gaming and #ActivisionBlizzard. We've gotten word that everyone affected in our immediate studio has been notified, meaning those of us still around are "safe". A former teammate of mine was not so lucky.

There are a lot of folks already looking for work from the absolute trash fire of layoffs from last year and the start of 2024, with now yet another 1,900 people on that list.

Networks have and continue to spin up to try to support people and help them find work, but I would encourage folks to do what you can to help people get #fedihired. Check on the folks in your networks. Contribute what you can to #mutualaid and do share that #fedihelps request. Make that call or drop that introductory email. Help with resume review or even just making yourself available to talk and be a support.

People are more than just numbers on a financial report

Folks, I don't often do this, but an acquaintance walked into their place this week to find that their power has been cut off, and they're now staring at a $528 bill to get it back on, in the midst of an arctic outflow cold snap that's bringing freezing temperatures.

Any help is greatly appreciated to get them out of a brutal situation.
