Format krótkich, dynamicznych form wideo to cyfrowa czarna dziura, która potrafi wciągnąć nastolatka na długie godziny.
YouTube właśnie oddał w ręce polskich rodziców narzędzie, o którego zapowiedziach pisaliśmy na łamach iMagazine już w styczniu. Od teraz możesz precyzyjnie ustalić, ile minut dziennie Twoje dziecko spędzi w sekcji Shorts. A co najważniejsze? Suwak można zjechać do zera.
Koniec z nockami zarwanymi na Shortsach. YouTube daje rodzicom „wyłącznik” krótkich wideo
Teraz zapowiedzi stają się faktem. Od 20 kwietnia polscy użytkownicy mogą swobodnie decydować o czasie, jaki ich dzieci przeznaczają na przeglądanie pionowych wideo. Możliwość ustawienia limitu na okrągłe 0 minut to bez wątpienia najważniejszy i najbardziej oczekiwany konkret z całej tej aktualizacji.
Warto jednak spojrzeć na nowość chłodnym, redakcyjnym okiem. Funkcja ta działa wyłącznie na kontach nadzorowanych (Family Link). Skuteczność tego rozwiązania zależy więc od tego, czy Twój nastolatek faktycznie z takiego profilu korzysta. Jeśli potrafi przełączyć się na konto niezalogowane lub tryb incognito, technologiczna blokada na niewiele się zda (sic!). Żadna funkcja w aplikacji nie zastąpi fundamentalnych ustaleń w domu.
Jak odciąć nastolatka od Shorts?
Jeśli Wasz domowy ekosystem opiera się na kontach nadzorowanych, konfiguracja nowej blokady jest banalnie prosta i wymaga zaledwie kilku kliknięć:
- W aplikacji YouTube otwórz Centrum rodzinne i wybierz profil swojego dziecka.
- Przejdź do zakładki „Zarządzanie czasem”.
- Ustaw pożądany dzienny limit na Shorts (wpisz 0 minut, by całkowicie wyłączyć tę sekcję).
- Gdy wyznaczony czas upłynie, aplikacja zablokuje możliwość dalszego przewijania pionowych wideo na resztę dnia, wysyłając nastolatkowi odpowiednie powiadomienie.
Technologia to tylko dodatek
Przy okazji polskiej premiery nowej funkcji, dr Garth Graham, dyrektor ds. zdrowia w YouTube, podzielił się radami na temat budowania zdrowych nawyków cyfrowych. Zamiast wdawać się w obszerne wywody, można je streścić do absolutnego minimum: rozmawiaj z dzieckiem otwarcie, oglądajcie treści wspólnie (by zrozumieć, co podrzuca mu algorytm), wyznaczajcie jasne granice i uczcie świadomego dobierania wartościowych kanałów.
Suwak w ustawieniach to świetne wsparcie, ale prawdziwa kontrola nad cyfrowym światem zaczyna się na kanapie w salonie, czy podczas rozmów przy śniadaniu, a nie w menu aplikacji.

Dear Family link users ,
does anyone know if it is possible to setup a work profile on a device managed by Family Link?
My daughter's school class only has a WhatsApp chat, and I do want to put that damn thing into the work profile so it cannot get all of the contacts present on the account.
The documentation does not contain any hints or tipps, at least I did not find any..

I am an advocate for freedom in cyberspace. At one time being very active in the Australian branch of #EFF.But I have recently discovered two uses for Google #familylink that changed my mind somewhat about device control/lockdown tools.
Use case 1.
Both of my cognitive decline parents have family link on their phones.
I know when they leave their house and more importantly I know where they are.
I have received far too many panicked calls from one or the other asking where their partner is (because they don't bother answering their phones).
Called too many hospitals asking for admissions.Use case 2.
I've recently helped a woman configure devices for her daughter who is addicted to one specific game and has spent A$1500 on in-game purchases. She has to constantly PHYSICALLY fight for the control of the device otherwise her child does nothing but play the game.
I was very sceptical, but it transpires the child is 32yo woman, with severe mental disability (still intellectually functional)I'm sure there are other use cases that can justify the #surveillance

El caos que es la aplicación Family Link de Google para control parental es algo digno de estudio. No se la recomiendo a nadie. Mejor pagar por una aplicación más fácil de usar.

Není tady někdo, kdo se vyzná v Google Family Link? Neteř dostala starší Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 a Chrome i Mi Browser vyžadují pro prohlížení potvrzení od rodiče. Na starém telefonu to fungovalo bez omezení, pouze byly blokovány stránky s explicitním obsahem.
Ať se ségrou hledáme jak hledáme, nedaří se nám najít, kde se to dá vypnout.
Já s tím žádné zkušenosti nemám, dcery už jsou velké a nikdy jsem Family link nepoužil.

Ich bin in der Hölle von #FamilyLink gelandet.
Vor langer Zeit installiert und wollte es für das Familienmitglied deaktivieren. Auf der Webseite finde ich keine entsprechende Funktion. Die Version auf dem iPhone will eine iOS-Version größer als 16. Das Gerät bekommt aber keine 16 mehr.
Bekommt man das noch anders deaktiviert? Vermutlich nur anderes Handy mit aktuellem Betriebssystem finden und dort FamilyLink installieren. -

I don't know what classification system #youtube #music uses for family accounts. My eldest could only see 3 songs from #taylorswift's latest album until I raised the limit in #familylink. It's certainly not the binary of explicit lyrics because one of the original three was tagged as such.
