Happy #CanadaDay & joyeuse #FeteDuCanada to all our members, readers, and fellow travellers in the True North! Since AmNat and Confederation both date to 1867, I've always thought of them almost as twins... and it's not a pure coincidence. Some Union veterans of the Civil War raided Canada, helping catalyze Confederation, while others founded what was then "a popular illustrated magazine of natural history"!
À très bientôt à Montréal ! #Evol2024

Joint @evol_mtg Conference is in the middle of Summer, over a week-end (Friday to Tuesday), and the first example of workshop is "work-life balance". 🤔 https://www.evolutionmeetings.org/workshops-and-special-events.html #Evol2024

How is it being an academic who tries not to fly for work #NoFly working in evolutionary biology and bioinformatics in central Europe this year?
#SMBE2024 @officialSMBE, #Evol2024 (which includes @eseb), and #ismb2024 in N. America.
#EuroEvoDevo and #ECCB2024 in Finland, which can be reached from Switzerland without flying, but it takes 2 days each way.
We can do better! We need conference planning to take into account travel, and avoid peripheral locations.
