Late Thursday #Workouts:
6.4 KM of #Cycling (22°C, 28 humidex, 82% humidity, with a 13 KM/H wind).

A ride in to #FestivalLife opening day. Usual minor hiccups here and there, but overall, even with the rain that stopped before the show started, it was a pretty good night. Then we found out that there was going to be the #CanadaDay fireworks show, which I managed to sneak off and record.

Rode back with @TAV, and fell asleep quickly shortly after we got home.

10 minutes of yoga.
15.5 KM of #Cycling (25°C, 28 humidex, 44% humidity, and 14 KM/H wind).

Sore yoga this morning, longer ride to site, and wow, what a day at #FestivalLife. *Way* more people showed up for the Canada vs Morocco game that I anticipated. Felt very #CanadaDay-like. Everything went smoothly, got some field work done, and then biked home for some pad Thai and a summer classic, Twister. So tired.

Both Canada and the USA cancelled events in their national capitals on their national holidays due to extreme weather.

But pipelines!
But Secure, stable, fossil fuel deliveries!
But divisiveness!
But Jobs!

A few short vids from the debut of Schoolbus Bob yesterday at a Canada Day pancake breakfast. The drummer and I (and also the person who put on the breakfast and took the vids) are all School Bus drivers. We play Weird Al-style parodies about Schoolbus stuff exclusively.

There was an attempt to use my #Zynthian for an Electric Avenue cover, but this being a Free Software device, there was naturally a problem with the driver for my Launchpad, so I was hitting the wrong pads and the loops were not really properly constructed, so it was a well-documented and rather funny trainwreck. When things are falling apart onstage, I go for the laugh, and generally people are happy with the show. I believe I have occasionally convinced them it was all staged.

I am very grateful to have gotten hooked up with Don, cause he's a shuffle demon - he can do any beat, and he picks up on all my body language, I barely need to look at him to get him to do a stop or whatever, he's amazing.

To illustrate, this show had a laughable small amount of rehearsal, and I'm mostly pretty happy with it, and that's mostly because Donnie was there. Indeed, the clip of Stuck In The Middle, which is just a straight playing of the song, is from the soundcheck (most of the audience was already there lol) and we had never played that together before.

Anyways, there will be more from Schoolbus Bob, including our forthcoming album, Oh By The Way, Which One's Bob?

Another thing about the extreme weather yesterday that resulted in the #CanadaDay events cancelled throughout #Ottawa. So many of us were working (for weeks!) to get the sites ready for the celebration, and having it cancelled - with good cause, of course - is a massive disappointment.

Yesterday's #CanadaDay storms have damaged so many trees here in Ottawa; it got me to thinking; the city needs to *aggressively* be planting as many trees as possible; the more trees the city has, the better protected everything is.

Dear diary,

T - 4 days.

I drove some of the kids downtown tonight since they wanted to walk around and watch the fireworks by the lake. So many people.

Made me feel very alone. I don't like being in crowds, but tonight's drive highlighted for me how alone I am.

Spent the evening sitting at home waiting for the kids to call and say they were ready to be picked up. Did some programming.

Now 3am. 4 bugzilla tickets closed. Time for bed.
