🇯🇴 Last week, GÉANT was in Jordan connecting with partners through #EUMEDplus project, including ASREN, SESAME Synchrotron-light, JUNet and the EU in Jordan.
A visit to SESAME highlighted how critical high-capacity R&E connectivity is for international scientific collaboration and data-intensive research.
Discussions also focused on strengthening national and cross-border connectivity across Jordan and the wider region.
Thank you to the ASREN and SESAME teams for such a warm welcome 😊

GÉANT witnessing a historic moment in Marseille 🇫🇷
This week, GÉANT joined AFR-IX telecom, ASREN, the European Investment Bank, French authorities & North African operators for the first landing of the Medusa Submarine Cable System on the French coast.
This milestone has been co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme, under AFR-IX’s ATMED–DG and ATMED Nador–DG projects.
GÉANT is proud to contribute to this effort through the #EUMEDplus project.

This fall, NORDUnet is part of the launch of #EUMEDplus, a new project aimed at supporting NREN infrastructure and services in the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood, which includes Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, and Tunisia.
