The fog was just so over the top.

I visited a very nice small church once that had an applause track that played when worship started.

The problem is that the mobile space is a hellhole of closedness and incompatibility. Also, economies of scale truly suck for any kind of hacker-friendly device. Just look at the cost of something like the GPD Pocket or the MNT Reform.

The ARM platform itself just kinda sucks — not because of ARM themselves AFAIK, but because there's no universal hardware standard. Every little device is a bespoke engineering snowflake and it's hell to develop truly open software to run on it. Just look at the Replicant project, the only truly and fully FOSS Android build. The most recent device they have fully working is the Samsung Galaxy SIII. OUCH.

Also, dadgum has Apple made everybody into a pudding brain when it comes to technology. The family members who literally taught me programming as a teenager can't be bothered to look through their iPhone settings program to change something.

  21. Ok, iamb.chat is a seriously cool command-line matrix client.

God knows what the 600+ dependencies are for, but

(Come at me, . I actually kinda like your language, but YOU have to be the one to look yourself in the mirror and say "Yes, I shipped a *command-line* utility that had 600 dependencies" and somehow not break down into tears or manic laughter. )
