The apocalyptic Microsoft and Stephen Elop relationship with Nokia leaves a terrible scar even today, especially on Finland. I got caught up in their scandalous asset stripping in 2011. Fuckers.

I feel for these fourteen THOUSAND people today. I loved working with the Finns and will always have happy memories from Helsinki and Tampere.

Am 3. September 2013 kündigt Microsoft die Übernahme von Nokias Kerngeschäft an. Es folgt ein Milliarden-Desaster, das abertausende Menschen den Job kostet.

Das Beste folgte jedoch wenig später: "Selbst wenn das #N9 und #MeeGo ein Erfolg werden sollten, wird kein weiteres MeeGo-Handy geben", ließ sich Elop öffentlich zitieren. Diese abstruse Einstellung, nämlich sich nicht an erfolgreichen Produkten zu orientieren, gipfelte darin, dass Elop auch noch alles dafür tat, dass nichtmal das N9 hohe Verkaufszahlen erreichen kann: Er traf die Entscheidung, dass das N9 in den sechs größten europäischen Märkten (Großbritannien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien, Spanien und Niederlande) erst gar nicht verkauft wird.
