The #SailfishOS operating system evolved from Nokia's #Maemo (used in Nokia N770, N800 and N900) and Nokia/Intel #Meego (used in Nokia N9). So, its roots reach back to the #Nokia N770 internet tablet released in 2005.

#Jolla Trying Again To Develop A New #SailfishOS #Linux #Smartphone
Finnish company Jolla started out 14 years ago where Nokia left off with #MeeGo and developed Sailfish OS as a smartphone platform. Sailfish supported a number of Sony Xperia and a variety of OnePlus / Samsung / Google / Xiaomi devices and more maintained by community. Last year Jolla also announced an "AI computer" as part of the AI hardware craze. They are trying again at their own in-house smartphone.

#SailfishOS basiert z.

I really hope #google don't mess up the #chromebook experience by making it into a failed #android device. Much like the #Meego OS many years ago. Right now the overall experience, except for the number of app stores is generally very good. Fast, responsive, stable and hassle free.

@danct12 #Nokia did a (soft) launch party for the #N900 at the BFI on the South Bank in London in September 2009.
lcuk had had a prototype, so we were able to do a cool demo: https://youtu.be/yk27PenpAz0
_EDIT:_ I note wryly that Nokia's blog post about this is now on the #Microsoft website: https://blogs.windows.com/devices/2009/09/04/n900-to-appear-in-london-next-week/

In the late 90s/early 00s I used the #Handspring visors for a while (Deluxe in blue followed by Edge in silver)
Next were the Nokia internet tablets running #maemo, including the #NokiaN950 (#meego harmattan)
Also the Nokia communicators, including the #NokiaE90
More recently rocking a #GPDpocket, but that's out of scope for this poll.

Hmm, strange, some apps won't start anymore ? Some #certificate bullshit again ? #N950 #N9 #meego #maemo

@mjg59 There was "The Story of Nokia's #Maemo & #MeeGo" by Sampsa Kurri. Original link 404s, but it's archived: https://web.archive.org/web/20121030094913/http://taskumuro.com/artikkelit/the-story-of-nokia-meego
I also remember a series of blogs by another insider, talking of the wider context of what was going on at #Nokia. Memory (and Google) failing me though.

I've been a huge #Nokia fan for many years. I still use the Nokia E72 and love the experience. And in 2010 I heard about the #MeeGo project. And I also know the whole further history of Nokia. I was a Nokia #Lumia920 user with #WindowsPhone 8.1. But a couple of years ago, I heard about #SailfishOS. And this project is very interesting for me, but all my devices are not supported. And maybe later, but I'm interested in creating of a mobile application for #Fediverse services on their platform.
