  1. I've been waiting for this moment since I discovered there was a decomp of Animal Crossing, let alone discovering is was completed: but a native PC port of the OG Animal Crossing has been made! :apartyblobcat: Wish it was City Folk but beggars can't be choosers... Honestly my main gripe is that AI was partially used in the development of the port, but I won't complain too much. :neobot_laugh_sweat:
So I know what I'm gonna be setting up now on my Mini PC and Steam Deck this evening (both are running Linux)! :neobot_laugh:

  4. It would be great to have some decompiled old games (GBA, SNES, N64) compiled to run inside an iPhone app.

I don't know the implications in terms of power usage versus an emulator, but I believe some gains would be massive.

  5. It was a surprise to me to see that they still include the SharedConstants.VERSION_STRING in Legacy Console Edition, even though it's not used anywhere.

The version reflects the Java Edition equivalent it seems, although I think it might be off by revision? I thought Switch Edition was 1.12.2.

  9. Having users of your project be confronted with developer tooling is generally a bad idea.

This is yet another example why: github.com/pret/agbcc/issues/84

Unfortunately, the projects associated with this tool are in a weird limbo where the point of it is being able to build modify the source files, but is also meant to be used by non-programmers. I'm not sure how that can be improved...

  11. #WordyWednesday: Ptomaine 💨🤢🤮

    Pronounced: toe-MAIN.

The unholy gang of nitrogenous stink compounds responsible for the indescribable stench of decomposing bodies. Found in decaying vegetable and animal matter and formed by the action of putrefactive bacteria.

Includes cadaverine and putrescine (the smell of putrefying flesh or rotting fish), indole (smells like mothballs), and skatole (smells like poop).

Other chemical compounds produce smells akin to rotting cabbage, nasty garlic, and rotten eggs. Ptomaine was originally thought to cause food poisoning but has been disproven.

Raise your hand if you've had this smell cling to your nose hairs after a long day at work! Semi-related, death workers deserve a raise.

  16. Not sure how many are aware, but I'm currently actively working on decompiling Diddy Kong Racing into matching C code. We're almost 40% done and still making great progress. Check it out here. github.com/DavidSM64/Diddy-Kon
