  1. Find out which #cytochrome P450 is responsible for the de novo #biosynthesis of two types of aporphine #alkaloid in #yeast!
Li et al. lay a foundation for using #SynBio to produce these valuable compounds.

  2. " 5-Aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is a crucial precursor of heme, which is essential for CII, complex III, complex IV (CIV) and #cytochrome c activities. Here, we show that feeding a combination of 5-ALA hydrochloride and sodium ferrous citrate (5-ALA-HCl + SFC) increases #ATP production and suppresses defective phenotypes in #Drosophila with Complex I (CI) deficiency."

  3. "Here, using cryoelectron microscopy, we describe the atomic structures of two extracellular #cytochrome #nanowires (ECNs) from two major orders of hyperthermophilic #archaea present in deep-sea hydrothermal vents and terrestrial hot springs...The detection of ECNs in archaea suggests that filaments containing closely stacked hemes may be a common and widespread mechanism for long-range #electron transfer in both #prokaryotic domains of life."

  4. Cytochrome C is a complex mitochondrial protein involved in energy production and cell destruction. But also likely a lot more we haven't found yet.

After finding and accidentally losing a new conformation of it in 2009, Uruguay scientists along with Vanderbilt, they have re-isolated it using a specially built monoclonal antibody.

#Bacteria deep in the #soil need #nanowires made up of #cytochrome OmcZ to export electrons to extracellular acceptors in order to survive without oxygen. New research explains how bacteria make nanowires on demand and why only OmcZ nanowires show extremely high electron #conductivity.

  8. @focalplane_jcs kinda difficult to keep up with all of the developments but TCSPC seems to be an upcoming field for quantum yield in a chain of fluors for figuring out the intrinsic fluoresence of tryptophan anisotropy and circular dichroism or Kcat :blobcat_rollingeyes: of an #enzyme or #cytochrome (or two)inside the #umwelt a living cell ?
