Hello 👋

It turns out I'm having far too good a time in Scotland to spend time on my phone. I'll update you upon my return (if that's of interest. Let me know).

I'm at the halfway point now and I've treated myself to an AirBnB with a glorious bath.

I'm taking it easy and changing the way I tour. I have loads to write on that topic later. For now, the bath is nearly full. I shall leave you with a photo of my bicycle on a ferry (I'm getting very enamoured by ferries).

Saturday I embarked on my first ferry to explore the isle of Great Cumbrae. I met baby canada geese, still all fluff and awkwardness. I found the smallest cathedral in Britain and generally pottled about slowly, stopping often to linger with the views.

I have WiFi and a charging plug! So here's an update.

After breakfast and a train on Friday, I found the campsite I was booked at, settled in, made friend with the locals before meeting up with @moragperkins for photo shenanigans (it may have involved asking a fish and chips place to spray vinegar on photo paper. As you do...) and getting our feet wet.

I was going through some of the pics from our epic cycle tour last spring (again!) and I think this one is my absolute favourite (out of nearly 1000). It makes me giggle every time. So adorable.

I cycled the Hebridean way in 1988 and came across Callanish standing stones almost by accident. My first big trip from Australia. I wanted to get away from southern England and Wales so took a train to Oban, Fronted up at the Oban Ferry terminal in the morning and decided to catch the ferry to Barra and island hop with my bicycle. Stumbled on Callanish.on Lewis. It was a great week of cycling. Memorable. The midges were pretty fearsome, though. 3 pics from that trip.
