ha, exactly what I was going to say as a question at #cyborgWorkers – Microsoft is desperately pushing employers to push workers to use copilot in the hope that someone somewhere finds an economic excuse to keep making foundation models and to salvage the companies from their #AIBubble liabilities.

AI-supported welfare work: caseworkers’ perspectives on autonomy, participation, and citizen Relation
Ida Heggertveit Solem, Dept of Information Systems, Agder, Norway. The caseworkers worried more than managers about citizens' privacy e.g. entering casenotes into chatgpt to generate letters.
I wonder whether managers have a false or accurate models of privacy/security? My own talk pounded on that it might be cybersecure one day but not the next.

we're in q&a now too much to say here, but Diletta Porcheddu tells us Italy has just passed legislation speicfying AI as a workplace stressor
There are members of the EP here warning about what protections people are trying to roll back in the #digitalOmnibus
I celebrate their recognition of how AI could be used for organisation & protections, but speculate that the reason we don't hear enough of this is not only #blackbox myths but justified fear of #surveillance

Aida PDC: we must understand the EU is #deregulation "simplifying rules to help innovation" however this cuts down safety for workers. (I will say it hurts innovation too, but maybe not until tomorrow.) Topics of #cyborgworkers include governance of all kinds but especially BY workers.

Aida Ponce Del Castillo ETUI : EU launched #digitalSovereignty moving from technical to political, the ETUI is concerned: who owns the infrastructure, who controls our or international data, who develops the tech.. These are metalevel questions at infrastructure level but should also be asked in the workplace. Employers & tech companies both can see more. What about those whose data is extracted used & reused, data subjects don't know what is extracted & who benefits. #labour #cyborgWorkers
