I had a puppet replica of Tom Servo from MST3K which I built over 20 years ago. After many years and lots of knocking around, the poor guy had worn out a lot. I replaced some old parts, stripped out the puppetry mechanisms, wired him up as a lamp, and added a color-changing smart bulb and some glass marbles for diffusion. Now he's the sassiest light source in the house!

🧵 2/ More #perlage #flowers. These are made by me in another technique which allows to work on different and smaller forms. I reconstructed the technique thanks to many photos of historical findings. Why is the #craft disappearing? It is extremely labour-intensive, the material (usually from manufacturers) is very expensive and you need a lot of it. People no longer want to pay a reasonable price for such art.

We had two different #perlage techniques depending on the region. These are reconstructions. People knowing the techniques become rare.

Ok #craftstodon I'm looking at getting a new #sewingmachine. I had a very basic older Singer that I passed to a very good friend who is in the SCA and was burning through machines at a high rate (the one I gifted him is still going fine). Now that I'm able to get back into sewing I'm torn between the #janome and #Brother machines.

So I put it out there - hit me with your experiences and opinions. I'll try to answer any questions as I can today.
