  1. Yeah, trust me, you want #continuousprofiling. We would have never just noticed this improvement in a latency-critical component in Polar Signals Cloud if we didn't have continuous profiling. 50% CPU improvement with a ~5-line code change.

I often hear people say "we're not at that level of optimizing". I've not found one company this was true for, and you're missing out on opportunities like these.

  2. #OpenTelemetry has announced that it has incorporated #ContinuousProfiling as a core telemetry signal, and #Elastic has donated its continuous profiling agent to the OpenTelemetry project.

  3. Great addition to : Elastic Contributes its Agent to OpenTelemetry. Way to go 👏

Check out the announcement for details: opentelemetry.io/blog/2024/ela

To learn more about how OpenTelemetry embraces profiling as its fourth observability signal, what's a full-host profiler, and what it means for users, check out my episode of OpenObservability Talks I had with Felix Geisendörfer and Ryan Perry of the OTel profiles SIG:

  4. W00t my OpenObservability Talks episode on Continuous Profiling and with the members of the Special Interest Group on Profiles is featured on the Observability Newsletter

Soon also on the podcast apps 🎧

  5. A major milestone for adding Continuous Profiling to :
The extension proposal (OTEP) outlining the data model has been merged 🎉
I need to look into that deeper with the SIG members behind it - watch out for an OpenObservability Talks special 😉

  7. New #caddyserver apps are in town! You can now configure push-mode #ContinuousProfiling agents in Caddy.

Currently the app supprots Profefe and #pyroscope that may be configured as first-class apps or as guest modules of the `profiling` app. You can now monitor and analyze CPU utilization, memory/heap allocation, and mutex contention right in #o11y tools!

  9. I had a great time optimizing a heap spike away with
@thorfour on today's #LetsProfile stream! Little did we know that not only did we remove the heap spike, but it turned out we also made things *a lot* faster.

  10. Super proud of what we have accomplished at Polar Signals in 2022, and how #continuousprofiling is gaining in popularity. 2023 it's going mainstream! 😎🧊📈 #profiling #performance #ebpf #observability
