Hrmpf! I'm already getting Nezha 2 spoilers on tumblr, and I have to wait until I can see the movie via streaming. While I know how to handle spoilers, in this case I was completely caught by surprise. I've rarely seen contemporary Chinese animation spill over to my "Western" media. Congrats to Jiaozi, Chengdu Coco Carton et al; you truly made it!

Chinese animation before the Cultural Revolution was friggin' amazing! This was shown on tv in Sweden in the late 70s/early 80s - I have vague memories of it. It's nothing wrong with the solid block Disneyesque style, but this gave me the ahA! moment that animation could be so much more.

Oh. I didn't realise it's an animated series. Starts with a bang* too. This reminds me I've planned to look closer on Chinese animation - I'm convinced there's more than this style!
