Convinced my wife to go with me to a bit of culture... I'm quite excited, even if she is a bit more apprehensive. Also discovered that disabled folk can get (very heavily) discounted tickets. £5 instead of £50 was the convincing argument to get her to agree 😎 #classical #beethoven #cbso

If you get an opportunity to hear the fantastic #CBSO conducted by the young Ukrainian Oksana Lyniv then you should grab it with both hands.Today they responded to her every gesture and played brilliantly. The rapport reminded me of the early days of Simon Rattle or Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla.

At the #CBSO audio-visual display I shut my eyes. Then it was almost as good as being at a live concert. If I had wanted to go to a live relay to a cinema I would have gone to a cinema not to Symphony Hall.

Excellent playing by the #CBSO last night rather spoilt by their trying to pretend we were in a cinema. Three giant screens projected a series of images more or less relevant. They also got members of the orchestra to stand up if they were playing a prominent part. This was done in a rather random and haphazard way. It could have been designed to make it impossible for the player to see both the conductor and their music at the same time. It was all rather distracting; better if I shut my eyes.

There are few things that make my life feel immediately better than having my music on shuffle and Walter Weller's #CBSO recording #Beethoven's 7th Symphony comes on.
I don't even really mind which movement (and yes, on shuffle, it's the way I like it).
Funny thing is, I don't actually like Beethoven on the whole and much prefer something a couple of hundred years older or more... -
