Just found out that Lancelot “Capability” Brown held the position of Royal Gardener at Hampton Court Place some years before my fictional Royal Gardener… how am I ever going to stop myself making a Bergholt Stuttley “Bloody Stupid” Johnson in-joke now?
(My researches also inform me the nickname came not from Lancelot being thought capable, but from his habitual judgement that whatever estate he was reviewing had the “capability” to be improved.)

So I checked out the link to the RHS Digital Collections site posted by @coastalhistory and a search revealed one result for #Fawsley, my local #OnePlaceStudy.
