I've done some back end tinkering on https://canyoubeatwellington.radomski.co.nz/ fixing tech debt, security issues and removing bloat. History is limited at the moment (it was lost in the upgrade), but it is much more stable so it should build it up over time. I might look to add history again later.

And on that subject; its official: you can't beat #Wellington today. It is a cracker out there. Voting works again, so if you agree, go and smash that big green thumbs up.

Final #canyoubeatwellington update for this weekend - I've pulled a few years of historical data into the database and created a system to generate a 'fun fact' about that data... unfortunately it makes #Wellington sound terrible - for example:

'The average temperature in Wellington is 17.3°C"

Or Wellington experiences very windy days (>50 km/h) 13.0% of the time"

Or worst of all... "It rains on 53.4% of days in Wellington". That can't be right... right?

Have made some minor improvements to #canyoubeatwellington - have added a database to log weather each day, added stats and a calendar on the about page and added the ability for users to agree or disagree with the assessment.

Keen on any future ideas - might be able to do something with user agreement data, or, could modify the rule set to take seasons into account - i.e. a good day in Winter shouldn't have to meet the same standards as a good day in summer.

Okay, something isn't quite right with #canyoubeatwellington. Today is the type of day they write songs about - its hot, very little wind, blue sky for the eye to see, and yet https://canyoubeatwellington.radomski.co.nz/ is saying you can beat Wellington today... it might be the data feed.

Take it from me, as someone WFD (Working from Deck), shirtless in the shade, you can't beat Wellington today.

Will rebuild that site at some point when I have some time...
