And I cleared my other plant table momentarily, which meant I could finally take a half-decent photo of the monster fishbone #calathea without all the usual clutter around it.
This thing is ✨AMAZING✨ and probably the most success I've had with a plant, with the least amount of effort -- other calatheas that I've bought don't seem to thrive like this one does... 🌱

Can anyone help? My #Calathea #plant has something that looks like crystals on the #leaves - front and back. Also, the backs of the leaves are sticky... And the edges of the leaves are drying. Is this some #pest?
She gets some direct sunlight in the afternoons, so for a while I thought that might be the issue... Also, she was left without water for about 10-12 days, but usually this isn't an issue.

Here's how that dumpster Calathea roseopicta is looking now! The remaining leaves have slightly better color, and a new shoot that was on the plant when I rescued it has put on new growth the past few days.
I had watered the plant as soon as I brought it in because it was horribly crispy, and a couple days after that I transplanted it to an unglazed clay pot with fresh soil. It was getting rootbound in its old pot - the plastic was bulging on the bottom. I waited to water it again until last night and gave the dusty leaves a good cleaning, too. It seems to be doing well in the spot where my Peperomia caperata is happy, so I'm going to try my hardest to leave it alone now and let it recover.
