I've been looking for a #traditionalroguelike game to dig deep into when I stumbled across #Moonring -- a free game on Steam that's kind of a #roguelike homage to the old Ultima games. It's got beautiful art and immersive sound design -- even the ASCII art undulates gently with color gradients that enhance the mood. The vibes alone make it such an appealing world to get lost in -- not what I expected for a game made out of text and sprites.

I don't know how it compares to giants of the genre like #BrogueCE, #DCSS, or #TOME though I've played a lot of #pathos_nethack and it doesn't seem to have the same variety of enemies -- at least in the first couple levels before I died. It seems more open-ended and I struggled to find my way to each successive goal. I don't know how replayable it is but I'm gonna give it a few more tries to see if I can get further.
