  1. #ZMAngband #roguelikedev you got it, the whole evening coding in different combos of monsters/drops to be generated. + coded in the possibility of attaching drops to flags, so in a future I only have to rewrite/interchange flags on existing creatures for any desired drop combo.
    Man, next update is gonna be LIT AF.
    Plus... More on the immersion side too when in combat, but NO spoiling that one!

    This will be the last meta post for a while, but it is one of the big milestones in the live of a gamedev.

    The game is not done, the demo is not yet done and i created an itchio page to find playtesters.

    The goal was to get feeback on the demo release, build interest and then make a sale.

    Somebody sidestepped all of that and bought a copy right away :-)

    Now i am duty bound to actually release the game.

    I have put this off for way too long, but i finally did it:

  25. Squeezing the #FontForge program, #nightshift #roguelikedev #ZMAngband #traditionalroguelike the results are GORGEOUS. Ascii looks stupendous on the Variant. Did some more replacement for the characters that I like from other fonts, upgraded the rendering to give the final smooth looking and boy, does it look stunning or what!? I will upload screenshots later on. This is awesome. Along with the 256 ascii Technicolor upgrade!! heck yeah!!

Non-lit areas of the map are a la #Brogue ,lit areas outside the yellow light source are of different colour too.Magma veins have 2 tones now depending on how close the player is to them. AND I figured out how to colour objects+monsters. This is gonna have a HUGE impact on the visuals.

    Oh man, something nice' s a-cooking. I think I'm getting more and more familiar with the Ancestral Zangband Code, it's like deciphering neolitic cave art, gives me the jeebies but I like it. Btw, installing #VSCode was a bright idea, was NOT expecting it to be so good when used along with #Vim .
    Next update is so dear to me that might as well advance a whole number.

  36. #ZMAngband #traditionalroguelike #roguelikedev #variant Road to 0.8 is already being paved. So far the tests for speaking/sounds effects on monsters are successful. Historically, 'bands only had lines for Uniques. I'm expanding that feature and the test runs are being a BLAST.
    Also, ranged attacks from monsters are taking shape too.
    Had somebody told me one year ago, that today I would be here and I would had called them crazy. But here I am. Bonkers.

    Dead By Zombie's public README has been revised to mention Slartboz

    DBZ was my 1st commercial Rogue-like. began writing it in 2007-ish. went live to players in 2008. released around same time as the original Dwarf Fortress! (Them: dorfs. Me: zeds.)

    Slartboz is my de facto sequel & successor to DBZ. so it made sense to mention it back in the old public repo for DBZ
