Quite something when I'm telling people that we got "only" 15 inches of snow here on the upper edge of the #blizzard. (Still snowing though.)
But holy crap, I just heard that #ProvidenceRI got 38 inches.

I've broken ground on Adventure Trail II, The Adventure Continues.
This feels like twice as much snow as we got in January. It's deeper, driftier, and denser and wetter. Mr. Dog left the trail (of course) and the snow was up over his back -- just his head poking up.

Fri, November 22, 2024"Canada has been no stranger to weather bombs this season. British Columbia is in the midst of its second bomb cyclone in one week—another intense storm hitting the same areas affected by hundreds of thousands of power outages just days earlier.
"While B.C.’s second storm won’t grow as strong as the first, another storm out in the Atlantic Ocean could rival that first storm’s monstrous strength.
"Storm Bert is brewing in the northern Atlantic Ocean, and it’s got its eyes set on the British Isles heading into this weekend.
"The storm’s minimum central pressure is expected to drop a whopping 40-50+ mb in just 24 hours. This swift strengthening would more than double the criteria needed for bombogenesis, the process of rapid intensification that creates a bomb cyclone."

Finally, tv meteorologist Morgan Palmer explains the origin of the term “bomb cyclone;” how it comes from social media. “Bombogenesis” is a scientific term not for a large or windy storm but indicates the speedy drop in air pressure of a storm (over cold water?), 24 millibars in 24 hours. Tuesday’s storm saw an air pressure drop of 58 mb in 24 hours. Winds reached hurricane speeds of 74 mph in Enumclaw, near Mt Rainier.
