After providing introductory bike-friendly drivers training today—to all youth at the Monterey County Probation Department Youth Center—we made our typical rounds in our county’s seat and largest city. Today that included Acosta Plaza and two local bike shops on our route.
We also stopped to snap photos of some of our favorite infrastructure (short of bikeways with a physical barrier): Bike boxes at intersections, like this one on West Alisal Street at Lincoln Avenue, Salinas.

Welcome a new member to the
#CriticalMass family: Yesterday, on the last #Friday of May, 2026 #cyclists in #Oslo, #Norway (a city which has been heavily investing into #bikeinfrastructure for some years) gathered for their first @CriticalMass. From now on this leisurely #bikeride is going to start at #Youngstorget every last Friday of a month, at 6pm: https://www.criticalmassoslo.no/

Show your support for a bridge over State Route 104 between Shoreline and Edmonds. King County council member Rod Dembowski will provide an update on how county park levy funds will be used to improve the Interurban Trail.

oh and i can confirm that work has restarted on the 61st Ave NE improvements in Kenmore - including the new bike lanes - but it's not, like, super-accelerated or anything. But they've put down a bunch of yellow trace paint, and were working on some section of sidewalk I didn't understand when I went to check it out today. Kenmore's website still says "through spring" so we don't have a solid completion date yet.

You can construct cyclable cities in Cities: Skylines I, but to create dedicated bike paths you might need the After the dark DLC. Note also the dedicated public transport and services bridge. Like in real life closing this bridge to general trafic greately reduced traffic jams downtown. #citiesskylines #cyclability #bike #gaming #bikeinfrastructure #urbanism

Interesting, I have determined a spot (with bicycle lanes) that really could use separated lanes and really good lighting in my town; I don't normally go there in evening hours but there is a HUGE amount of local, economically driven bicycle and scooter traffic there (between people living in apartments and the grocery store and Walmart neighborhood store) and lots of issues with cars ignoring those pedestrians and bicyclists. Unfortunately, probably the folks who don't have the time or money to go ask for that stuff. #BikeInfrastructure #MultimodalTransportation #BikeTooter

Interesting take-away from the ARE-205-8/1/16/22/19 report from the Swiss Government. Low education people put a higher importance on improving the car infrastructure than high education ones. For bike infrastructure, you see the reverse pattern (albeit less strongly). #publictransport #bikeinfrastructure #infrastructure #switzerland

From just my couple weeks of using it, being able to turn onto or cross College Ave. farther from the center of Davis (where drivers are more focused on beating the light than looking for cyclists) has felt so much safer! Thank you to everyone else who supported this change at the January Davis Square meeting or emailed the city about it, and of course to the Mobility and Engineering departments for implementing it!
