Good haul of rambutan this year! If you’ve never had this delightful fruit, you bite off the hairy husk and feast on the sweet juicy flesh inside. Tastes kinda like a white grape crossed with an apple.

After about four years, our olive tree has the tiniest, most adorable little fruits on it! #olives #pnw #BackyardFruit

This is my crabapple crop for the year. Fedi, what do you do with crabapples besides make pectin?

Well, what a lovely surprise!
We though we had accidentally killed our passion fruit after landscaping, but turns out a few vines survived.
Couple of months, and passion fruitinis are on me!

Still more #BackyardFruit: Peaches, apricots, and teeny crabapples.

More #BackyardFruit: My skinny little Black Tartarian cherry tree is trying to produce fruit. I doubt it will stick around. The elderberries are flowering like crazy. The blueberries have already flowered, and are starting to produce visible berries.

A friend gave me two apple trees today — Mott's Pink and Junaluska. I just finished getting them into the ground. #Gardening #BackyardFruit

My scraggly apricot tree seems to believe it’s going to bear fruit this year. I guess I’d better put up netting soon if I want to feed anyone other than the local raccoons. #BackyardFruit

I decided to use most of this week’s elderberry harvest to make syrup. What you see here is elderberries, grated ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. After they have simmered a while, they will be strained and pressed, then cooled and blended with raw honey.

Not a bad elderberry harvest — over 2½ pounds harvested from three bushes. I lost hundreds of berries that fell to the ground while I was harvesting. There are still plenty of not-quite-ripe berries on the bushes.
Now I will need to wash these and remove stems and the occasional bug before I can use them. I haven’t decided what to do with them yet. In past years we have made elderberry syrup with ginger and honey, which is a great antiviral.

Something has eaten all the almost-ripe Elberta peaches off our tree. The China Pearl peaches are still mostly unripe, so we still have plenty of those. I wonder if we have raccoons?

Blackberries are no longer green. One is almost black! #gardening #BackyardFruit

Figs are coming along nicely. We had lots of fig buds, then they all fell off, then lots more grew. #gardening #BackyardFruit

Some of the blueberries are coming ripe. They are ridiculously delicious. #gardening #BackyardFruit
