  1. Appreciation post: In the absence of algorithmic feeds (or rather feeders?), having an interesting Fediverse timeline feels much more like an accomplishment. Also, it can be entertaining without being an infinite, doom-scrolling, click-baiting mess.

  2. CW: Cute cat, dead mouse

I couldn't find Mama Lemon earlier this evening, then when I went to brush my teeth I heard her calling me by the back door. She somehow sounded different than usual so I went to investigate. Turns out she had gone out to get me a thoughtful gift. I told her "Thank you." ♥️

    (The mouse was deceased already)

  3. I am late for #sysadminappreciationday.

On my way to drop off a parcel with donations to my dear #server-admin and #hubzilla-dev @Harald Eilertsen

Remember people, even in capitalism it is not (always) financial #support that is required to show some #appreciation.
  4. CW: Nudity

I’m a fan of imperfect symmetry and natural beauty. Amanda’s breasts are a masterpiece of both. Whether they’re catching the sun or resting against me, they’re my favorite view.

Like this if you agree. 🔥

  5. When Did We Make Love So Complicated?

A short video on social media made me stop and ask a much bigger question: When did we become so afraid to let people know they matter? Living with a lifelong health condition, spending years in hospitals, and losing people I loved far too young has taught me that tomorrow isn't guaranteed. It has also taught me that kindness, appreciation and genuine connection are never things we regret. This is a reflection on vulnerability, authenticity and why I still believe in saying what you mean... and meaning what you say.

  6. Things They Don’t Tell You When A Pet Dies

Life changes when a pet dies. In our case, our dog Trixie died yesterday. They don’t tell you life changes, beyond the immediate, obvious loss. But, it does. There’s probably twenty ways life is different this morning than it was before yesterday in our household. Like, this piece of posterboard lying on the kitchen floor, right now, that I just took a photo of. Until this morning, this posterboard was lining the bottom half of the window next to our front door. It was there because […]

  8. Oh, Trixie…

This little girlie is slowing down. Trixie turned 14 at the end of May. She has surpassed in her longevity all of all our wildest expectations; this is the dog who had major surgery for bladder stones in 2019. She has been on some form of prescription food since then. Porter was pretty sure she wouldn’t last long after her left for his first year of college, and here we just sent off his proof of rental insurance for his apartment for his third year of college. I know Porter wanted to […]

    AND
    What does someboy who does
the right thing at the right place by the right way
    need a carreer for?

All people I met in such a situation just needed one thing: #appreciation.

  10. The 2026 Writer’s Retreat

I am writing this post on notebook paper, old-school journal style, sitting in the Savannah Convention Center while Jared finishes his GAMEIS Conference. We had to be out of the hotel by 11 AM and the conference doesn’t end until noon. I have this gorgeous view for the morning, sitting by a massive wall of windows in a corporate seating style rocking chair I turned toward the window. The weather and the River Street view are both gorgeous. It has been such a fun week with Jared in […]

  11. The Severing

July 8, 2026. I didn’t set out for today to be a before and after day. And really, not much has changed about life. Except it also feels like everything has changed. I used Byron Katie’s The Work to figure out that the entire past four years, I have been attempting to do something with my subconscious that I haven’t really succeeded in the past 28 years to do: I have been attempting to decide it was okay to not want someone to matter anymore. And, more: I have been attempting to […]

  12. Hello, Daily Forever Boots

I’ve been on a boot kick for about two years now, wearing only my Aérosoles Daria boots near daily for a year and a half or so. I had two pair: one brown, one faux patent leather. I wore the brown pair so much that the sole came apart from the boot and had to be tossed. The faux patent leather ones are still in the shoe rotation. But I am on a buy it less often kick, and trying to buy better stuff that will last. And I love my 10 inch LL Bean Bean boots, so I went looking for a taller […]
