CW: Graphic descriptions of bodily mutilation.
This story and that of Marius Gustavson (linked in the article) engaged my interest because I have read very little about the sexual preferences and practices described. I find them more than a little off-putting.
Nevertheless, beyond the sensationalistic interest, the articles did get me thinking.
I am aware of this equation:
My Thing That I Really Like = Your Fetish = Their Weird Fixation.
Yet in addition to the standard liberal thoughts about the harm principle, the licitness or otherwise of paternalism, informed consent and so on, I also found myself wondering about the propriety of terms like "disgust" and "perversion".
I still have not sorted my thoughts out.

Ça y est, déjà 1 an aujourd'hui même que je me suis fait amputer une partie de ma jambe gauche et ce fût toute une année. Je voudrais remercier mon entourage qui mon grandement soutenue dans cette épreuve mais en particulier mon p'tit frère qui sans lui, je ne serai qu'un souvenir virtuel.

Enfin déménagé dans mon chez-nous, après avoir passé 3 mois dans un organiste pour sans-abris. Je marche maintenant comme un vrai bipède depuis juin et le prochain step sera le moulage pour ma vrai jambe artifielle et se sera fini pour la jambe "école" que j'utilise depuis mars.

Ce matin fû mon examen final concernant le port de ma prothèse avec un docteur, une ergothérapeute et mon prothésiste. Tout c'est bien passé et je peux passer à l'étape suivante qui consiste à construire ma vrai jambe artificielle et lâcher celle que je me sert depuis mars dernier. Mon prothésiste va me commander un pied en carbone et la prise du moulage de mon moignon ce fera prochainement.

Ich kann den Hinweis auf das Autofahren trotz Amputation nachvollziehen, ist nun mal leider die Mobilität, den die meisten praktizieren.
Allerdings hätte ich mir neben dem kleinen Foto eines beidseitig unterschenkelamputierten Radfahrers weiteres Informationsmaterial zum Thema Radfahren gewünscht. Beispielsweise Informationen über das Radfahren mit Pedalpendel, Pedalverkürzung, Trimobile und ähnlichen Hilfsmitteln. -

I often get strangers asking "How did you lose your leg?"
The vast majority of the time I feel like it's just an honest question. But it still bothers me a bit because it's something I would never ask until the conversation had progressed a lot further. I'm perfectly fine telling people, it's just something I was taught not to ask. Are these people ghouls? Should I be less forthcoming?
