A mouse study found that two doses of psilocybin prior to cancer chemotherapy reduced peripheral neuropathy (pain or loss of sensation). The protection persisted through six rounds of chemotherapy.

The preliminary research was conducted in mice, but scientists were optimistic the results would apply to humans. A #clinicaltrial begins this month.
There are no effective treatments for #neuropathy, which causes pain, tingling and numbness in the hands and feet, and can force patients to scale back or halt chemotherapy when the discomfort becomes too much to bear.
