  1. Good morning! ☀️☀️☀️ It's #MissKitty 1st good morning cuz in about an hour she disappears & meditates with #Guru & attendees online. Dedicated #meditation has recently stabilized Miss Kitty. She is doing good with that & walking. Repairing venal insufficiency. I am way winning on #neuropathy! Booyah!

  10. #Psilocybin May Prevent Nerve Damage Caused by #Chemotherapy, Study Finds
The preliminary research was conducted in mice, but scientists were optimistic the results would apply to humans. A #clinicaltrial begins this month.
There are no effective treatments for #neuropathy, which causes pain, tingling and numbness in the hands and feet, and can force patients to scale back or halt chemotherapy when the discomfort becomes too much to bear.

  11. @murena The only Android offerings for smartphone with physical keyboards are in the $500-600 range, which isn't a price point that's achievable for most disabled people, so the 2 realistic options are:
    getting one of these waveshare.com/pocketterm35.htm
linux devices for about $200 & fidgeting enough to get them to work in this sphere.
(It's not fully absent a touchscreen but it seems close enough to function.)
There's a free path that takes more time & knowledge but is likely far less reliable, and then there's getting a mobile Hotspot which costs money but is a simpler setup.

    Or

Getting pretty much any standard touchscreen #Android phone - many of which are under $200 & adding one of the many mini keyboards, their price range being normally $10- $30.

For those with programming knowledge & experience- there's no question but that the #Linux one is better right now, but for those without it's questionable. Clear written instructions, on how to get the Linux one to work for this, would go a very long way to making it a practical option. Similarly testing & packaging a pair of Android devices together as a degoogled setup, in one case, would help that gain greater adoption.

*For now I see people just continually breaking their devices, yelling & crying over how they don't really work, without the resources, some just lacking the knowledge on better existing, to get better options.

  13. CW: Hot take

@pixelate yeah, as much as this irks me, I agree. I'm not at all a programmer or coder, just a disabled person with mobility issues that basically make touchscreen use impossible.

Part of the issue for me is, even as there are organizations that cover my disabling medical conditions, none really cover quality of life measures, beyond "join a support group based on & in Facebook" & "get a caregiver to do whatever it is for you".

I'm planning on getting #Elementary within the next 2-4 months and as I can, with other projects, try to get physical keyboard smartphones to work with degoogled operating systems.

  16. A small town in rural Ohio is producing #EnrichedUranium again. Here's why that matters

"When Centrus Energy flipped three switches at its new plant last fall, it was a new beginning for an industry that had been dormant for more than a decade in #Ohio: #UraniumEnrichment.

"As the U.S. looks to meet its clean energy [sic] goals, there’s increasing demand for the resource, which is necessary for nuclear power generation.

"For years, the U.S. didn’t have a American-owned source of enriched uranium. (A subsidiary of #Urenco enriches #uranium in #NewMexico, but it's owned by a conglomeration of foreign governments and European-based businesses.) Now, #CentrusEnergy is attempting to fill in the gap. And it’s doing that at a plant in #PiketonOhio.

    [...]

"Some locals aren’t thrilled. One group worries about the industry’s connection to #NuclearWeapons. Others fear the waste from the plant could #contaminate the surrounding #environment. The specter of the last time #uranium was being enriched in Piketon looms large: many former plant workers get federal compensation because of illnesses they sustained as a result of exposure to #toxic and #radioactive materials.

"'I feel violated,' said Vina Colley, a former worker at the #PortsmouthGaseousDiffusionPlant. 'They said I would get more radiation by getting on the plane than working out here.'

"In the time since she worked at the plant, she’s battled #beryllium disease, #ChronicBronchitis, #COPD, #neuropathy and #HeartFailure."
