#Astralia: "The rate of First Nations prisoners jumped to more than 2,500 per 100,000 adults in 2025 and up from more than 2,300 a year earlier and more than 550 in 2019.
… First Nations youths remain heavily over-represented in detention, with 25.7 children aged 10–17 per 10,000 in custody on an average day in 2024-25 and ‘‘no change from the baseline’’ towards the target of a 30 per cent cut by 2031."

The full story of the Juukan Gorge sacred site disaster and aftermath
This video offers detailed context on the Juukan Gorge blast and the cultural impact on Traditional Owners.
-
When places like the Pilbara are blasted, pulverized, and reduced to shipping cargo, Traditional Owners often talk about the deep spiritual grief of taking country apart. After the destruction of places like Juukan Gorge in the Pilbara, elders specifically spoke about how the country itself loses its anchor, and how disturbing those ancient sites agitates the spirits of the ancestors who dwell there.
-
In traditional Aboriginal belief, the land isn't just an object, resource, or backdrop; it is the body of the Ancestors. The rocks, the red dust, and the caves are where ancestral spirits reside, carrying thousands of generations of DNA, stories, and history.
-
So when you see those mountains of red earth piled up in Qingdao, you are essentially looking at pulverized Bilybara—literally, bits of Nyiyaparli, Yindjibarndi, and Banyjima country shipped across the ocean.
-
Nyiyaparli Country (around Newman and major inland mining hubs like Mount Whaleback).
Yindjibarndi Country and Kurrama Country (spanning the Hamersley Range and Fortescue River areas).
Banyjima Country (central inland Pilbara).
Nyamal and Ngarluma Country (stretching toward the coast and port infrastructure).
-
The bulk of iron ore exported through Qingdao originates from the #Pilbara region in the northwest of Western #Australia.
The region’s modern name is derived from #Bilybara, which means "dry" in the local Nyamal and Banyjima #Aboriginal languages.
Because the region covers vast expanses of land, it encompasses the ancestral country of many distinct Traditional Owner groups. Where those iron ore mega-mines slice through the earth, you are looking at the traditional lands of several key groups:

"Everyone deserves to see the sky and breathe fresh air.
But the Allan Government’s No Air in Prison Bill seeks to stop people behind bars from having at least one hour of fresh air each day in prison.
This is a cruel attack on basic human dignity that will disproportionately harm incarcerated First Nations people and other people stuck in solitary confinement.
The Allan Government must stop shrugging off human rights responsibilities that are meant to protect us all and should abandon this Bill."

"The protest — organised by a range of anti-war, pro-Palestinian and land rights activists — is the largest at the site since 1987, when more than 1,000 demonstrators marched up to its gates [of Pine Gap]."

@ajsadauskas And 1770 by Dobby.
If you listen to nothing else on this list, please listen to 1770.
You will learn more about Australian history in five minutes listening to this song than you did in a whole year of high school history.
It's brilliant.

This will go poorly for The Jews™ 🫠
"#Australian #universities will be required to adopt definitions on #antisemitism, #Islamophobia and #racism towards #Aboriginal and #TorresStraitIslander people from next year, under a legally enforceable standard designed to stamp out #discrimination on #campuses.
Details of the #antiracism standard will be published on Monday as #university bosses, #students and #academics prepare to appear at the royal commission into antisemitism and social cohesion.
A separate set of governance principles will also become enforceable standards, including an obligation on public universities to publish vice-chancellor salaries, spending on consultants and the outcome of board meetings.
The introduction of a formal anti-racism standard was part of the antisemitism plan that the federal government published after the #Bondimassacre, and a recommendation from the #HumanRightsCommission’s landmark report on racism at #Australia’s universities."

Australian aboriginal stories say that the Great Barrier Reef was once dry land. It was then flooded by a Creator Being. Not sure about that Creator, but the reef was indeed once dry land — 13,000 years ago. Which suggests that the stories have survived since then…
