The apartment I rent is just around the corner from the old Greens campaign office, and today an independent bookshop (Paperchain, who have a shop in Manuka) opened their new shop there. With a string quartet out front and an actual ribbon cutting. So I have spent the afternoon at the park with Chase, reading new books. #Canberra #CBR #bookstodon #books #reading

Photo Of The Day 23rd October 2026.
G-LYDF, Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftan, Atlantic Bridge Aviation, raising it’s nose as it takes off from Runway 23 Left at Manchester Airport, 15th March 2017, as seen from one of the South Side mounds. Note the Avro RJX prototype preserved (or left to rot, depending on your point of view) and on display behind the Concorde Hangar in the background. WE139, English Electric Canberra PR7, in Royal Air Force colours, on display at the RAF Museum, Hendon, 4th March 1996. Derivatives of the Canberra still fly today – the Martin B-57 is used as a high-altitude photography platform by NASA, primarily because pretty much no other aircraft can match it for altitude, speed, and loiter time on station – some other planes can hit 2 of these requirements, but not all 3. HA-MEP, WSK-PZL AN-2R (a license-built version of the Antonov AN-2) in the colours of it’s sponsor, Utterly Butterly, at Fairford International Air Tattoo, 22nd July 1995. This was the support plane for several aerobatic teams operating under the “Utterly Butterly” brand, flying types as diverse as Fournier RF-4s’s and Boeing Stearman’s. Quite why a butter-adjacent spread was deemed the ideal sponsor for an aerobatic team is unknown, but they were regulars at shows up and down the country.Frankfurt Friday 23rd October 2026.
