Adding to my list of cooking experiments that worked this #toastietuesday ... grilled cheese in the oven! nonstick baking paper (on a baking sheet):
bread-cheese-tiiiiny layer yellow mustard-ham cheese-bread.... butter top and bottom
420F 5 min each side in oven (10m flip once). Perfectly crispy, all toasties are done at the same time... no standing around the stove, scales well (to size of your baking sheet).

Three hours and 150 kms later, we're back home and winding down after 48hrs intense in-law interaction. Relaxing with a homespun 'what's edible in the fridge?' culture-fusion toastie made with 18 month vintage cheddar and gochujang. Now for a mug of tea and a slice of Terry's Chocolate Orange - or several.

Ich bin allen Ernstes letztes Jahr einmal abends wieder aus dem Bett geklettert und habe nachgeschaut, ob die Rewe Bio Finn-Toasties als "nordische" oder "nordirische" Spezialität beworben werden.
Es ist "nordisch" und "Finn" meint wahrscheinlich Finnland, ich muss aber immer auch an Finn MacCool denken, den "legendary hero of old Ireland", den Flann O'Brien in "At Swim-Two-Birds" so schön auf die Schippe nahm.

Ein Kiez ohne Bäckerei ist kein richtiger Kiez. Im Block rund um die Seestraße / Togostraße gibt es einen kleinen Backshop, der mit seinen nackten Backsteinwänden und kupferfarbenen Lampen sehr stylisch daherkommt. Nun hat der Laden eine neue Betreiberfamilie, die mehr als nur einen Backshop dort führt: Es ist eher ein nachbarschaftliches Saft-, Toastie-, Zigarrenbörek-, Donut-Café. Brötchen gibt es dort natürlich auch.
