Good work by #lorry driver - keeping occupants of small car that has broken down on "smart" #motorway safe and calling nines so #Police and #NationalHighways are aware - it took 5 mins on 999 call, and 13 further minutes for National Highways to arrive on scene, and #drivers are barely noticing stationary lorry (further ahead the matrix sign is showing "national speed limit", which suggests there has already been a restriction on previous signs so drivers are likely trying to accelerate to get back to 70mph (112 km/h)
These smart #motorways are not safe (thankfully there are no further ones being built)

These are from when we built Genie Internet for Cellnet - Originally on the Telex floor (where Wireplay was), and then we had to move it up to the 5th or 6th onto my office floor, where the corporate networks hung out. This was the install record, sadly taken on a 1999 digital camera, sorry! I had a skim, there's nothing in there that would be considered classified these days.
The Celnet Genie service, which we designed as an "ISP in a box", was pretty amazing, really, especially for an essentially free ISP.
Also, it's one of those odd jobs where you end up as both lead applications architect, systems manager, server builder, removal dude, and underfloor cable rat and crimper in the same project. I feel jobs like that in big corporations tend not to exist any more.

Some things don't make sense here. If it was the chaps "childhood dream" to drive a #lorry he's been a #vehicle enthusiast since his youth and is now 39, he's been #driving long enough to know its illegal to be under the influence of #drugs behind the wheel (2015 England & Wales, 2019 Scotland)
- and its extremely unusual for #cannabis to be legally prescribed for #ADHD / #Anxiety - is his defence lawyer blatantly lying in #Court (is that not illegal in itself?) -
Facebook's "fact-checking" review and appeals process is insanely bad. I'd have sent anyone who wrote policy this ridiculous for retraining.
I posted the same post as I posted here about Hunter Biden's Laptop ( https://infosec.exchange/@lorry/114741328048838021 ) as a partly satirical and partly informative post on what those MAGA nutjobs are saying - And I got a strike for posting misinformation.
I appealed, and was told instantly that my appeal was rejected - Both of the messages Facebook sent to me pointed at a misinformation page that was nothing to do with this which is even weirder:
Is the link they say explains why this Hunter Biden laptop post is wrong.
I was told:
"A reviewer from our team checked your post again.
They found information that fact checkers say is missing context."The post clearly has a whole load of context, it explains the reason for the post clearly. This crap needs nuance, or it's just removing the ability to flag misinformation by flagging it as misinformaiton.
La la laaaa. No wonder people complain about moderation!

Even the Basic Income Canada Network has shifted to talking about Guaranteed Income. I hope that's at least Guaranteed *Livable* Income, but it's definitely a step backwards from Universal Basic Income. They've shifted because they think it will be easier to get politicians to accept GLI rather than UBI.
I think BICN is making a mistake.

There's nothing you can do about this, I am just pointing it out. Instead of a tip maybe just don't blame them for the fact that Facebook never removes anything bad, or any obvious scammers. I am sure they want to remove them, but those managers I mentioned won't give them any agency at all to do the right things.

Hence, an indictment of Canadian news orgs, not U.S. tech companies.
Why the hell haven't the Canadian orgs I listed #cooperated to launch a Canadian #news aggregation site? It wouldn't even be expensive.

The FCC must require television/radio stations to include statements that Fox “NotNews" is fictional and not considered a factual news media outlet News aggregator sites such as Google News, Yahoo News, Apple News, etc. must delist fake news sites such as Fox Not News

@Lorry Indeed a bot can trivially detect a #shadowban. They don’t even need another account. Simply fetch the page of their post w/out passing a cookie. So this #shadowbanning practice which was naïvely designed for bots ends up only wasting /human/ time. It’s why I’m done w/ #Reddit. And holy shit: it was recently pointed out to me that all blocks by #Mastodon are #shadowbans.
