The GLA must have a top-notch recruiting team, I understand that they're supposed to be terrorist and therefore terrorize, but more than half of their attacks impact the civilians in the territories they're supposed to "liberate" more than they impact the Chinese and the Americans, it's remarkable that they're able to fill their ranks at all

Da entwickelt Wer ganz allein über Jahre in relativer Stille mit gelegentlichen Videos auf YouTube ein komplettes RTS, was mich stark an das gute alte C&C erinnert, auf Basis der Unreal Engine für die Grafik mit vielen neuen Idee darin und total abseits dessen was der Mainstream so vorgibt bisher. 😀

Nun existiert eine Demo dazu und ich habe leider festgestellt, obwohl mich dieses Spiel fasziniert, das ist nichts für mich sowie überfordert mich zu sehr und endet damit nur in frustration. 😩 🙄

Vielleicht ist das Spiel was für dich, darum mit diesem Post der Hinweis dazu. 😉

Was watching some coverage of #CommandAndConquer series and naturally it got to the point where EA does what it does best and put in ads and make the game kinda terrible.

One part was interesting though where it talked about the original developers wanting to make a MMORTS, and I really wonder how that would work

So we are just short of a bio-engineered process to extract rare earths using weird plants and we will be in the original Command & Conquer game: with the brotherhood of Trump on one side and the European Défense Initiative on the other…

Finally made it through the Nod campaign of the first Command & Conquer! 💥

I had to exploit several errors of the enemy AI to get anywhere in the final missions.

(And to make things worse, the last mission 13c has a bug that can corrupt save games.)

To be honest: in the end, it felt more like a chore.

But I am still glad I pulled through and saw the final cutscene. 🙂

But now my thirst for RTS games is quenched for the time being. 😅

I've been going crazy with OpenRA-OW this past week or so, it has *mostly* just been polish and balancing, and reworking things! I love being able to find new solutions for old hacky workarounds 👀 (mostly thanks to OpenRA devs adding new features every now and then)

I had fun making Prism Towers work. My brother borrowed these sprites from Combined Arms for something else, I'm using sound effects from MechWarrior Online

Ooof.

Yesterday I *almost* gave up on #CommandAndConquer.

Nod mission 11b ("Ezekiel's Wheel (Mosambiq)") was borderline impossible.

No base at start, managing two different groups on opposite sites of the map, constant airstrikes targeting the few fragile units available. 😯

There was no way for me to solve this the intended way. After many crazy experiments, I somehow found a different way though, luckily.

I think this was the hardest mission of the whole game, fingers crossed. 🤞

I am in the "real time strategy" mood, currently replaying the first "Command & Conquer" yet again.

(Other games I sometimes come back to are Dune II and Warcraft 1 & 2).

Which other RTS games (that can still run on a modern system) could you recommend?

The setting does not matter much to me, but a campaign with a little story is always appreciated! 😊

I would be glad about any tips and / or boosts!

Today, I noticed that Command & Conquer Renegade is on Steam. This was the last game I worked on at Westwood Studios before I left in 2002. It requires an EA subscription to play, which I don't have; plus, since multiplayer was the best part of this game but is not supported on the Steam version, I will not purchase it. I was surprised to see it on Steam, and it reminded me of the many fantastic multiplayer sessions I played! This was the final *true* Westwood Studios Command & Conquer game; everything from Generals on was created by one spin-off or successor studio or another (which is not to take anything away from those games, just facts).

I've loved #RealTimeStrategy (#RTS) games ever since I was a little kid. I'm not counting in #RTSGames that don't have base building (so not #DawnOfWar2 for instance...).

Wasn't a huge fan of #RelicEntertainment RTS games because the squad mechanics aren't to my liking.
#AgeOfEmpires4 has been made by #Relic but it seems different compared to #CompanyOfHeroes and #DawnOfWar and that's a good thing.
