  1. Part 2 in my #hardwarehacking adventures - I've setup a IRC server that runs on the #tenda4G185 MiFi device. It was another fun deep dive into cross compiling, various IRC servers and then using #openssh to make reverse ssh tunnels.

  5. @ge0rg nerd-snipe complete!

Checkout my Deep Dive into the Tenda 4G185 v3 MiFi device which is now self hosting it's own website: projects.solarcene.community/p

It was a very deep rabbit hole of reverse engineering, looking for exploits, cross compiling, messing with scripts, finding vulnerabilities, reinventing the wheel and a lot of research.

But the work is not done, now it's to make it actually useful 😂

  9. What’s the film genre/name?

I like films where there is a need to build/make/fix something, like The Martian, I particularly enjoy an inspiring montage so even something like Pacific Rim makes me happy (now that sounds a bit like a euphemism!)
I’ve been known to watch a film I know up to the point of said montage and then not bother with that rest.

I’d be up for suggestions of what this sort of theme is called and suggestions of films to watch.

  10. A friend got me motivated to finally put together part of my 18650 battery and the rest of the small solar setup I’ve had lying around for a few months now. Works fine, but needs the rest of the battery parts and better cables & connectors #onethingaweek #altpwr

  11. If you or anybody you know in or near #Mayo #CoMayo that is interested in #solar #smallsolar #SmallWeb installs, please join this workshop

    remote.wilderland.ie/events/pe

To figure out what is needed for a solar install, and how to size it. I have a few examples of some mini wind turbines I'll put up as well, for kicks :unwanted_ok:

More workshops being announced soon! See remote.wilderland.ie

  20. Solarcene update: it's been cloudy and rainy for days here so we've had very little #solarpower, currently the solarcene.community systems are mainly shutdown as the battery is too low, hopefully might get a bit of sun today. Just to illustrate the average solar in the last few days has been about 50Wh a day and even with the system only drawing 3W that still adds up to 3 * 24 = 72Wh a day, so slowly running out of juice.

Hopefully a sunny day soon though the forecast suggests that might be in 1 weeks time! Its been a very wet 2026!

Just one of the challenges of running very small solar systems, of course I could plug into the grid but that's not the point of this experiment, instead just need to do without, I should probably dig out some other project to do while I wait for the 🌞

  25. Update:
I've moved gitea off the orangepi5 and have it now working well on my #pinephone which is connected via usb ethernet to the network, it's running #postmarketos and seems to be handling it well git.solarcene.community

The mastodon instance is still on the orangepi and while it does keep resetting it seems to be reasonably stable, it's all backed up, I'm still planning what to do next, I might build a second server and then move everything across. Still not sure what's made the #orangepi5 unstable after over a year of running

  30. I was wondering if the garage switch was failing, I'd be surprised if it's the main router as that seems okay with all the other network stuff in that house.

    Any thoughts?
