Great to see that #EuropePMC is making important progress in realizing one of the recommendations ("Recommendation 4: Provide links between preprints and peer reviews") blog.europepmc.org/2024/01/dis!

  16. I4OA Hall of Fame - 2023 edition crossref.org/blog/i4oa-hall-of

This post by @MsPhelps shows which publishers are taking their responsibility to open their abstracts and which aren't.

    Look at 5 largest publishers:

#Wiley and #MDPI have opened their abstracts. Great!

#SpringerNature has opened abstracts only for OA content. This isn't enough, as pointed out by their own flagship journal doi.org/10.1038/d41586-022-029.

#Elsevier and #TandF look pathetic. They still haven't started to open their abstracts!

  17. Reflections on #UKRN open research indicators work so far… ukrn.org/2023/12/15/reflection

"there appears to be a strong case for the academic sector to reflect on the opportunities and risks of sourcing indicators relating to its core business from third parties ... in Europe there are also strong signals from some very significant institutions such as #Sorbonne and #UtrechtUniversity. Could the academic sector be about to take more control over the ways in which its research is monitored?"

  27. I just published a review of the paper 'Preprinting in AI Ethics: Towards a Set of Community Guidelines' by Henrik Skaug Sætra.

    Paper: doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4598223
    Review: ludowaltman.pubpub.org/pub/rev

In my review I argue that the idea of a dichotomy between non-peer-reviewed preprints and rigorously peer-reviewed journal articles is problematic. We need more nuanced ways to discuss the pros and cons of different approaches to scientific publishing and peer review.

  28. Last month Thomas Heinze published the paper 'Isomorphism among Public Universities in Germany, 1995-2015' on #SocArXiv doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/8v6s3. The paper presents a methodology for analyzing isomorphism (structural similarity) of universities.

I just published a review of the paper at ludowaltman.pubpub.org/pub/rev. In my review I express some doubts I have about the methodology introduced in the paper.
