  1. I suppose if I’m gonna be honest though, the last time I shaved was Aug 28, 1968, my first full day at college, because I didn’t like how my chin looked. But it never once occurred to me to take a hammer to it.

  2. I just heard about a new #looksMaxxing thing that young men (mostly, I guess, but some women too) are doing. It’s called #boneSmashing. It’s where you whack your cheekbones with a hammer, repeatedly, in order to attain some sort of “chiseled” look. Damn.

  3. Can anybody please calculate for me the time numbers related to how much faster someone at the equator is moving compared to someone at, say, either of the poles? Or anywhere in between, really. Ideally, a simple formula that correlates degrees of latitude with speed of revolution would be great. I’m at 40°30’36”N, and 4960ft elevation. I presume elevation also factors into it.

  4. Can anybody please calculate for me the time #dilation numbers related to how much faster someone at the equator is moving compared to someone at, say, either of the poles? Or anywhere in between, really. Ideally, a simple formula that correlates degrees of latitude with speed of revolution would be great. I’m at 40°30’36”N, and 4960ft elevation. Well, who said solve? I just said it could come up with an answer (with the usual YMMV disclaimers.) Probably a different answer every time you asked. A non-zero chance at least once the answer will be, first, sell everything, next, kill yourself.
Yet you’ve piqued my interest, but you’ll need to #explainItLikeImFive, I’m afraid.

  9. What all the cool kids are doing now: #tripping on mega doses (12-14 pills) of Benadryl.
It’s an #antihistamine that’s been around for a long while. I’ve taken it for 60+ years for seasonal allergies. A couple times while in hospital I’ve been given it as a sleep aid. Never occurred to me to try tripping on it. Classed as a deliriant. Weirdly, kids report having very similar hallucinations: a tall shadowy man dressed all in black w/ a black hat.

  10. Any of you old fogeys remember and ? A new documentary is coming out this weekend. Says here Shari had a drunk Lambchop routine she’d do at nightclubs, and that she’d order lamb at restaurants just to freak people out.

  14. CW: Quartiles spoiler

Woohoo! Second time in less than a week I got all the words in #Quartiles. I’ve got a long streak of getting the 5 big words, but usually give up when I haven’t all of the rest by bed time. Today I finished by 4 o’ clock.

  15. CW: #Quartiles spoiler

Woo hoo! I got all the words in today’s #Quartiles.

  16. One of the things I like about the #Quartiles puzzle game in the Apple News app, is how many non-words there are that could very well be words, but aren’t. The sequence of letters follow basic general conventions that look & sound like a word, but nobody’s used it yet. With just the right buzz that sounds profound.

  17. So apparently a very successful, popular entertainer has announced a new thing and it’s somehow going to be pumpkin-related, as in orange. I’m mildly bummed about this only because my car is orange. I like my orange car. It’s easy to see in parking lots, for instance. It stands out amongst all the white and silver and ugly gray cars on the road. But now, against my will, I’ll be assumed to be a fan of this person. I’m not not a fan, but still. #Whine.

  18. #JoshJohnson is still on tour. This week he was in #Atlanta. Talkin about the fighter who got hit so hard his hair flew off—I saw that clip🤯— and about the #Epstein files, and #BillGates. He just gets funnier and funnier. There’s horrible shit goin on and he speaks the absurdity behind the horror. Tells a story about a woman so mad she kills a man, revives him, & kills him again. And Josh wonders why #MelindaGates isn’t that mad. 50 minutes. Worth it. youtu.be/7rzHeNkxDTM?si=rR4i0p

  19. Josh Johnson is on tour, in London this week. Here’s some of his routine from yesterday. It’s about 40 minutes. The first part is his basic schtick, but please be sure to keep watching, listening, or skip ahead to 23:00 and watch the next 14 minutes. We think, “it can’t happen here.” It’s happening here, folks. He’s talking, of course, about #Minneapolis. And #Alex_Pretti. youtu.be/VukAjVNhJlY?si=rDVoDV

  20. #OnceUponATime, long ago, some programmer sitting in their cubicle wrote the first code that did drag-and-drop. When would that have been? Since then, that code and the meme of drag-and-drop itself have propagated throughout the entire universe of #graphical UIs, mutating and evolving as new coding substrates (OS languages) appear and also evolve. Does the original core code still exist anywhere? Where might that be? #writeMeABook, please, somebody, that tells me this story.

  21. I’m watching the Australian #WILTY and just heard a linguistic tidbit: American booger = Australian goober. That’s all. Carry on.

  22. After an apparent one year hiatus, there is a new #WILTY episode. S19ep1. youtu.be/pjc-LmJSLBA?si=Sa9GWZ
    I’ve missed them.
