A third problem with AC in an upstairs bedroom is that you can't predict how the temperature will “bounce” up if you turn it off.“Comfy Mode” allows on/off parameters.
I set the thermostat on Dry Mode to 66, but comfy mode is going to turn the unit off if it gets under 68. If it goes over 69, Comfy Mode on Cielo goes back on. That protects from waking up hot if it bounces. And it won't cycle on/off a whole lot, not nearly as bad as the scrolling near the set point

Cooling trick for a bedroom #Heatpump for sleeping:
As you know if you have one, a #minisplit heatpump will not run in a way that necessarily respects the thermostat setting. Two problems you get sleeping with the AC: it overshoots, so you freeze. And it starts to modulate when it approaches the setpoint, so it spools up and down distractingly.
So I use an external thermostat, a Cielo Breeze. It has a setting called “comfy mode.” 1/

I mean, what percentage of Vermonters even have air conditioning. 40, 30, 20 years ago I didn't know anyone who had it in their home in #vermont. I guess 20 years ago I got a window unit for my office. Window unit here in the livingroom is now superseded by a #minisplit #heatpump. I've got to imagine this event coming up is going to be potentially deadly, some elderly people in poor health in an upstairs bedroom. #climatechange #globalwarming

My town is fine, in spite of having mostly gravel roads, but I have friends who are stuck at home. Been through so many mud seasons, and all I can say is you never can guess how it's going to be. My sense is that this is an extra bad #mudseason in #Vermont.
